DyAnn J. Richards (neé Needham)

DyAnn June Richards, age 65, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital . DyAnn was born June 25, 1948, in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Marion "Red" and Marvel Needham. She was a graduate of Villisca High School and attended University of Northern Iowa and Northwest Missouri State University.

DyAnn worked for more than 20 years at Union Carbide in Red Oak and for a number of years at Belt GM Center. In the last two years, since her husband ceased practicing law, DyAnn managed Richards Law Office and assisted in transferring files to other attorneys.

When she was not traveling to the Star Cinema in Council Bluffs, DyAnn was working in her garden or picking cherries, apricots, and peaches, and making pies and other baked goods. She had a great love for her pet Huskies, Mia and Chancey. DyAnn enjoyed classic automobiles and worked with her husband to acquire and restore many special automobiles. In the last few years she had become a Husker. Go Big Red!

Preceding her in death were her parents. DyAnn is survived by her husband, Charles E. Richards of Red Oak; son, 1st Sgt. Daniel D. Webster and wife Malinda, granddaughter, Campbell Stephens and grandson, Scottie Stephens of Charleston, South Carolina; daughter, Debby Wheeler and husband Shawn and grandson, Luke Wheeler of Fort Scott, Kansas; sister, Shirley Frey of Oskaloosa, Iowa; niece, Heidi Frey and husband James of New London, Wisconsin; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service was held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. DyAnn's cremated remains will be scattered at a later date with those of her husband, Charles, at French Creek near Custer, South Dakota.
