Vocational Arousal and Supra-sexual Co-creation

This is utter bliss! I am working every early morning on one of our 8 baby-forest-gardens whilst listening to the most wonderful minds our planet has evolved, on a tiny audio pod-thingy which can carry hundreds of mp3 recordings, which are now easily available for free on the web. Today I was listening to these audios of Barbara Marx Hubbard, amazing evolutionary...

Then I chatted to Marco whilst having a fruit breakfast (fresh off the tree, grazing on delicious white figs and oranges he had just picked) outside the greenhouse where Esther (who's learning a lot of italian from us right now) was watering our many babies: trees, bushes, vegetables, etc..

Today, tuesday, is Silva & Vulcan's turns, for a few hours I watered all the trees and bushes, mulched some, planted another 5 bushes .. all whilst listening to interviews with Barbara, whom am just now discovering, and what a thrill it is! ((She's in her early 80s by the way.. another one of the long string of 'magic 8ths' I keep finding these days, which seem to confirm this "8th Life" idea is perhaps really ok to put out there... bit of my magical purple meme stuff... I only indulge occasionally, purely for pleasure..))

Here I found a video where she talks about Supra-Sex (see video below), something I've been going on about (but never had the genious to coin a memorable word for) for decades, often calling my permaculture projects 'my babies', always deeply aware of how they are the confluence or co-creation of many people's work, minds, passions. And especially how extatic the act of conceiving, birthing and witnessing the growth is. And how difficult, often, the parenting.. (I had the great fortune to experience some beautiful love stories with resulting children - projects - of all ages, but there's a whole book, which will probably never be written, about all the 'bad sex', the frustrating interruptions, not to mention the zillions of promising flirtings that never came to anything, the heart-brakes and a few incredibly painful abortions... all resulting from this 'vocational arousal' which we have yet so much to learn how to bring to fruition, to co-creation).

(see other videos on Supra-Sexual CoCreation)

This is all particularly great coming from a mother of 5! Thankyou Barbara, what a genious!!! I myself have never (unless depressed) felt interested in procreating physically and am a firm believer in parenting needing to be a vocation - some people are truly gifted parents, but the vast majority of parents to date aren't so much inspired as pressured into having children, one way or another, with disastrous consecuences for our species, and not just in numbers). So flushing out this idea of Vocational Arousal and Co-creation as widely as possible could go a long way in assisting people to make rational choices around which types of parenting to put their creative energies in.

This video is infact quite heterosexual and couply, and that's ok perhaps if we stay conscious of the fact that inevitably, when we invent a new myth it will be strongly influenced by previous myths, and so we can use our consciousness to re-shape them towards something more interesting still.

Woman at the Edge of Time

Because what came to mind strongly for me when I was listening to this supra-sex idea was the amazing futuristic novel Woman at the Edge of Time, which influenced me profoundly in my twenties - and where new babies are conceived by a group of people, not a couple ... and also can be gestated by a man or woman (see articles referenced in the wikipedia page for interesting analysis about all the details).

Now of course I wanto go back and look if that number of co-parents was 8 .. would b super-cool, given that 8 is the next magic number up from 2, a quantum-leap to the next stable electron-shell an atom can have... so why not copy that pattern - it's very clear to me that we need a quantum-leap in reproductive thinking also on the physical level.

La Belle Verte

Incidentally .. talking of Visions, (see previous post) ... the Woman at the Edge of Time futuristic feminist novel was one of only two I brought with me, the other one being Door into Ocean, another huge contribution to stretching our minds to what is possible, in terms of alternate futures. And much more recently, a few years ago I discovered La Belle Verte, a film this time, but also by another feminist genius:

Interesting that these are the only future scenarios I have found that are of the "Permaculture Creative Descent" type, the majority scenarios out there in the culture being the "Techno-explosion" and "Collapse" types, still, unfortunately. And with many greens now rallying to quickly produce something in the "Techno-stability" type.. which is not progress, in my view.
