8thlife.net turned out to be a transition design to this new site, 8thlife.org, in January 2011, which launched the EcoVillage project 'for real', in the sense that it got immediate responses from some very interesting people who were not only very suitable but had the necessary resources to start. On the 24th of february we have two people (new share holders) signed up and more arriving to visit.

The outreach effort birthed Butterfly Jobs (an evolutionary employment agency!)

8thlife.net remains a viable future income-generating (for the wider village transition) project, should the new ecovillage members choose.

the original project turned out to be too exciting (complex) for most people to get their heads round (one of the down sides of being innovative pioneers..) so we 'toned-down' the idea considerably (made it a little more linear..) and created 8thlife.org - a 'straight' eco-village investment opportunity - parking the more ambitious 8thlife.net mega-educational project (which includes creating an eco-village, but lots more besides) at least for now.

The re-design to 8thlife.org was done in January, and by February we had our first eco-investor: Ville, a very enterprising Finnish IT developer who set up a cooperative of eco-techno-geeks currently working on a system for managing a fleet of electric community cars. Cool dude..

But we also wasted our time with other prospects who would be great but don't have the money to invest, or have the money & keen interest, but not enough of the skills, open-minded attitude or imagination to really be pioneers in something of this kind. So that was a little depressing.

Then a friend asked whether someone might be able to invest more than 20k (our max share, in the current design) and this got us thinking...

So a new and even more exciting (if that were possible :) idea arose: howabout employing some excellent permaculture designers & builders and getting the eco-village up & ready to move in, complete with running eco-businesses, in 2yrs?

Will post business plan here shortly ... we already have a wonderful friend & eco-economist investing & very excited about the idea.

In the summer of 2010 Julio & I had a very inspired long conversation about what would be truly the maximum expression of what we were about, what we wanted to offer the world and what we would most deeply enjoy ..

and 8th Life was born! And we decided it would be better for now to put the presentation in English.

So for 2011 the focus will be on the people: we want truly exceptional people and if Integrals are still only about 5% of the population, FREE integrals will maybe be about 2% .... then we have to throw our net out very far and wide ..
