STR-DN860 Connections

As you can see the unit has 5 HDMI (input), the middle one has HDCP 2.2 below so not sure if all connections are capable of HDCP 2.2 as yet. One HDMI output labelled ARC and HDCP 2.2. You will also notice that the HDMI input can supply 5V @ 1A.

By the ARC stands for Audio Return Channel . Available on versions of HDMI 1.4 onwards.

ARC returns audio from the TV/Monitor back down the HDMI cable to the A/V receiver and other capable units.

On the menu system you will need to turn "Control for HDMI" to on to be able to control the audio. You also have the ability to specify if your TV/Monitor will play audio. This is done via the Audio Out options.

You can add extra Bass by adjusting the Sub-woofer level.

With many MHL capable devices you have an option to turn MHL Auto input to on.

Networking: The unit has a Ethernet (100mB/sec) and WiFi (5G capable, which works connected to my Virgin media router) and Bluetooth. I have been able to stream audio to the amp via my iphone, laptops and other gadgets we have around the house. You will see the dual antennas at the back for WiFi.

The speaker connection are the usual banana /spade terminal connection type. I have never been one to waste money with fancy speaker cables.

The one thing I usually look for is a decent thickness of the inner wire and good shielding.

There has been many arguments and counter arguments regarding wires and audio signal, read many and not convinced about the

benefits. Two Sub-woofer output ports are provided (which will need to be amplified are available).

Optical (two) and Coax connections are provided if needed. Two analogue connectors (two video in and one video out also available).
