Kitchen Backsplash

The following links bring you to two suites of photos of the kitchen backsplash that Jerry installed with his wife, My's, help. This is the first tile job of any sort Jerry ever attempted. The tile is onyx, a translucent stone. Note that Jerry profiled the edges of the periphery pieces so that expensive edging pieces were not needed. The only edging pieces available were a very poor match in appearance. Also, Jerry arranged the tiles into groups of similar veining and coloring, so as to give the finished job an appearance of large sheets of onyx, rather than individual pieces. The After set of pictures also illustrates the range hood Jerry installed, which vents to the outside of the house. The previous microwave/range hood recirculated the air back into the kitchen. While watching the After slideshows, you may wonder what happened to the backsplash receptacles? The last slide will address this.
