28th January 2012

Histon, Westwick, Cottenham - Meet at Cottenham Village College 9:30am with bus pass/ bus money for the bus ride to Histon. Cottenham Community Cafe is open for lunch as usual, so for those who wish, please book walk (and lunch) with Jasper and Janet.

18th February 2012

A walk of about 6 miles, starting from the impressive earthworks at Stonea Camp (an iron age settlement subsequently occupied by the Romans), then heading towards Wimblington following droves and field edges before heading back to the vehicles along the B1093. We will stop for a coffee break en-route so bring your flask and snacks!

Meet at 10:30 at the car park at Stonea Camp (signposted off the B1093 Wimblington to Manea Road, Grid ref: TL449928). Parking is limited so lift sharing is recommended. For lift sharing meet at Cottenham Village College (CVC) at 09:30. Note: walk leaders will not be there to supervise transport from CVC.

A 9-10 mile walk starting in Papworth Everard @10am. Bring a packed lunch. Parking info available when confirming with Ian/Ann.

21st April 2012

This walk is lead by Eileen and Janet

This is the Soham Millennium Walk with an extension and is an excellent way of seeing Soham town and its commons, providing excellent views of the surrounding fenland and Ely Cathedral. (Weather permitting). It is a walk of 9 miles in length, however can be shortened. Along the way, you will find Waymarkers individually designed and which depict a local theme in sculptural form, and there will be time to look at them.

Meet at CVC – for car share – leaving at 9.30

Alternatively meet at the rear gates of Soham Village College, College Close, CB7 5HP, which is near Ross Peers Sport Centre Car Park. Parking is available in the nearby roads.

We plan to start the walk from this location shortly after 10 am. Please bring a picnic

11th - 13th May 2012 - Losehill YHA

A spring weekend walking in the Peak District and staying at the new Lose Hill Youth Hostel. Please see the Castleton 2012 for details of the walks and some photos.

23rd - 27th July 2012 - Summer School Walks

The Cottenham Village College Summer school walking programme. Details TBC.

15th September 2012

Cranes, Trains & Nature Reserves.

An 8 mile circular walk over predominantly easy terrain, exploring some more of Cambridge's local nature reserves (LNRs) and green spaces on the south-western outskirts of Cambridge. LNRs include Byron's Pool and Paradise. Details of the LNRs can be found at the following link:-

Please bring a packed lunch. Toilet facilities available at several locations on route. Possibility of a pint on route. Meet at Cottenham Village College. at 9.30 am to car share or 10am at Trumpington Park and Ride (Junction 11 of M11)

Meet 10.00am at car park (OS ref TL362713) on east side of River Ouse near Over at the end of Chain Road for 8 to 9 mile walk exploring new reserves created by the Hansen-RSPB wetland project. Bring packed lunch. Contact Maureen

10th November 2012

A walk around Old Warden village in Bedfordshire.

Easy access via A1/B658. The walk starts at the church.

Directions:

Continue for a mile past the entrance to Shuttleworth Aerodrome. take a right before Old Warden village up Church Lane. Plenty of parking spaces available at the Church (small donation fee requested).

Suggest meet at CVC 9:30 to car share.
