Getting Started ...

Are you considering joining a cub scout pack and want to learn more about Pack 95? Then you should go to About Pack 95.

Are you already a member of Pack 95 and want to "sign up" for e-mails, event notifications, and the like? Then you're in the right place.

If you're one of those that likes to "cut to the chase" then go to Getting Started below. Otherwise, read on for a short introduction.

Overview

Communication is key in providing a quality program to the boys.  There are lots of things going on and it is hard to find an easy way to keep everyone up to date.  As a pack, we have chosen to use some different types of communication to make it easier to keep everyone informed.  Most of these take advantage of the computer in some way, shape, or form, so if that does not work for you, let your den leader or cubmaster know (to see the Pack leadership click here).

Pack 95 Website

Our website will be the means for public posting of our information, so when you are looking for something that's the place to look. You will find:
  • Our pack calendar
  • Your den calendar
  • Important Scouting Links
  • Important Documents
We also have a place for announcements. Since these are not being delivered to someone's e-mail feel free to add information you think people may find interesting or helpful. This is open to everyone. Found a neat field trip? Post an announcement on the website. Have an idea that you want to toss out there? Post an announcement. The last few announcements will be placed on the home page, but you can see a listing of all announcements by clicking the announcements link on the left side of every web page. Feel free to share your info on the website.

Groups

While the website will be a repository where you can go to find information, groups are used for delivering information to you (reminders, updates, etc.). Group membership also provides a limited way to find contact information for other parents since you can browse through the member lists to get the e-mail addresses for other parents.

Getting Started

Here are the steps to follow to take advantage of the various communication channels within the Pack. If you have any problems send e-mail describing them to pack95admin@gmail.com.
  1. Create Google Account - If you have not already done so, go here and create a Google Account for yourself. This only takes a few minutes. You will need an e-mail address to do this (it is also possible to have multiple e-mail addresses associated with a single Google account, as described here). If you don’t already have an e-mail address you may sign up for free Gmail (and simultaneously get a Google account) here. When creating an account you may be asked for your mobile phone number. An explanation for the reason for this (or for what to do if you don’t have a mobile phone) may be found here.

  2. Join Groups - If you have not already done so, go here and follow the instructions to join the pack group and your den group. This will get you on the pack and den e-mail lists, plus get you access to restricted pack and den information. This takes a couple of minutes at most, though you'll then need to wait until your requests are approved. When applying to join a group, please add a meaningful “nickname” (such as your real name, “Little Bobby’s Mom”, etc.). Otherwise it can be difficult for others to associate your e-mail address with you.

  3. Reminders - If you have not already done so, go here and set up calendar reminders. This also takes just a matter of minutes. You will not get reminders for meetings or other important events if you do not do this.
