May 1, 2022:

The Colony Cemetery Association held its annual meeting on Sunday May 1, 2022.  This year, for the first time, the meeting was held jointly with the Beale/Pavlica family reunion.  Many of the people attending are included in both groups, with all of them having the common intersection of ancestors buried in the Colony Cemetery.  A total of 42 people were in attendance.

The cemetery grounds had been mowed and cleaned recently.  New floral tributes and American flags on the graves of veterans, along with the recent excellent caretaking, demonstrated the commitment of those attending the homecoming and family reunion. No burials in the cemetery were reported for the past year.

President of the Cemetery Association J.J. Beck welcomed everyone to the event, and Sandra Mica led the group in grace before the bountiful pot-luck lunch was shared.  Following lunch Secretary Amy Beck read minutes of the last meeting, and Treasurer Etta Brown provided written reports of the income and expenditures for the past year.

In the business meeting, Bonnie Pesson moved that the homecoming and the family reunion be combined in the future, to be held on the first Sunday in May.  Dee Beale seconded the motion, and the motion passed.

Six of those who signed in won the live plants that had served as table decorations. These, as well as the supplies for the event and a new 8-foot table for the church, were donations.  Donations were also collected for both the cemetery upkeep fund monitored by the cemetery Association and for the Beale/Pavlica reunion fund.

The groups will return in good will for a joint meeting on the first Sunday next May, which will be May 7, 2023.
