Welcome

Colony Cemetery Association

Next Homecoming set for May 4, 2025

The Colony Cemetery Association is a tax-free organization of relatives and friends united to preserve and protect the Colony Cemetery, the Methodist Church building, and grounds.

The Colony Cemetery was established in 1876, thanks to a generous donation of land from John Albert Young and spouse Margaret Inez Hunsucker Young. The first burial in the cemetery was that of Samuel Jenkins Brown, born 19 January 1813, and died 20 September 1879.

The Colony Cemetery Association holds an annual meeting and homecoming celebration on the first Sunday in May of each year. Care and maintenance of the cemetery, the church building, and grounds are supported by generous donations from family, friends, and supporters.
