Frank Turner

Frank moved to Ottawa with CAR in 1882 and was a fireman and engineer with the CAR and GTR until about 1912. He lived in Ottawa from 1882 until 1904 while being a fireman and later engineer for CAR. From 1894 to 1904, he lived on Salisbury Place, just north of the CAR yards. But in 1904, he moved to a farm about one mile south of Rockland, Ontario. According to his obituary, he retired from the GTR about 1912. (Email from Mark Cullen, 2011-12-26)

On September 21, 1895, Frank's train of seven cars plus the pay car derailed eastbound between Renfrew and Douglas. Frank was badly shaken up, and his shoulder bruised, but otherwise escaped unharmed with the rest of the crew (Citizen, 1895-09-23, thanks to Mark Cullen).

One of the possible engineers in the Rideau Canal accident of 1891 (the other was McGaffney), according to Austin Cross in the Citizen 11 November 1948 (Thanks to Colin Churcher)
