Born 1836-01-18 in Goulbourne, ON. Moved to Pembroke 1858.

Opened a general store with his brother, Michael in 1858. On Michael's death, took brother William into partnership. The business expanded to ten stores along the CPR from Cobden to Chapleau. [PembrokeCNC]

Liberal representative of Pontiac (5 terms) and Renfrew (8 terms) counties. A member of the first parliament of Ontario. [PembrokeCNC]
