Lee 21

Developed by Mr. Lloyd Lee of Alberta. Lee 21 is considered by some to be the best of the Lees. It is a crisp sweet apple, good for eating out of hand.  It grows to 2.5" in diameter. Our trees are later than most of the others to leaf out and also late to set terminal buds in the fall. We have some tip dieback some winters, but the trees have come back well.   In our orchard it has been less productive than Lee 17 or Lee 31, but apples are said to keep well into December or January if refrigerated.

This variety seems quite susceptible to sunscald.
