Stories about the sad demise of fruit trees

Because we sell trees, we get to hear a lot of stories about the sad demise of apple trees. Some of the stories are quite amusing, while others are more cautionary tales. We thought it might be fun to collect a few.

*I didn't have my fence built yet, so I didn't want to put my trees outside where a moose might get it. I put it in my greenhouse instead. On a hot day, I left the greenhouse door open. A moose went into the greenhouse and ate my trees.

*Snowmachiners ran over my tree in the winter.

*I sent my grandson to get a stick for roasting marshmallows. He found a small tree growing all by itself in the middle of a cleared area. You guessed it!

*My mother had a crabapple tree with very sour apples. I watched as a moose calf ate the tree. It spit out the apples.

*I wanted to protect my trees through the winter so the moose wouldn't get them. I leaned boards up around the trees and closed it in so a moose could not get in. The snow load collapsed the whole thing and snapped my trees.
