Quality Work

Learners Initiate Purpose

• Matter to the student.

• Aligns with or exceeds grade level academic standards.

• Connect academic standards and backpack skills with real-world issues, and/or local people and places.

• Contribute to a larger community.


Learners Drive Process

• Connects ideas to broader frames and concepts.

• Demonstrate original, creative thinking and authentic personal voice or ideas.

• Have undergone multiple revisions (drafts, rehearsals) based on feedback and critique from others.

• Reflect care and precision with attention to accuracy, detail and aesthetics.

• Challenges students to create knowledge rather than receive it.

• Have taken extended time to create. 

• Reflect application of content knowledge and Success Skill/s to new contexts.

Learners Create Products

• Reflect application of content knowledge and Success Skill/s to new contexts.

• Use formats and standards from the professional world rather than artificial school formats.
