About Us
The JCPS Deeper Learning team
The Deeper Learning team collaborates with individual teachers, professional learning communities, schools, and district departments to support the shift towards more learner-centered experiences for every student. They aim to provide comprehensive assistance to all parties involved in the education process, ensuring that students receive the best possible learning experiences and achieve their goals.
A brief history of Deeper Learning in JCPS
Deeper learning happens when learners are deeply engaged in meaningful, more PERSONalized learning experiences that they “own,” where they grow capacities to make a difference, and where they create beautiful, impactful work that can demonstrate the growth of vital capacities, skills, dispositions, and knowledge needed for life. Deeper Learning deemphasizes educational strategies that are primarily done TO or FOR learners and emphasizes educational strategies primarily done WITH and that come FROM learners. The timeline below showcases some of the work that has happened as we shift toward this learner-centered ecosystem of Deeper Learning.

Our Deeper Learning Design Essentials
JCPS is transforming to a learner-centered, PERSONalized, and competency-based paradigm. We must, therefore, support and challenge every learner, every day, in the growth of their identity, competency, agency, and well-being. Deeper Learning design essentials empower learners to take meaningful action, see the results of their decisions, reflect, and grow. The projects, strategies, and practices leveraged by the deeper learning team focus on agency and equity, engaging learners to partner in decision-making and community building.
