BIG NEWS!!!
Liberty Magnet High School has been recognized and will receive a National Merit School of Excellence Award during a ceremony held at the Magnet Schools of America National Conference hosted by New York City Schools, April 16-20, 2024. The National Award of Merit Excellence is the highest level of Merit Award that MSA assigns.
To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme.

Black History Month
Tuesday, February 1 kicks off Black History month. Throughout the month our African American History classes, Zeta Tau Theta Chapter, and Fine Arts Department have activities planned throughout the month to celebrate, educate, and uplift. Be on the lookout for activities starting this Friday!
Please Help!
Parents, please help us reinforce the importance of personal responsibility when using the cafeteria. Our students, especially our younger students on 1st lunch shift, have been consistently leaving the cafeteria in an unacceptable state for our cafeteria and custodial staff. This includes: food on the floor and tables, half-eaten plates of food left on tables instead of thrown away, spilled food left on the ground, chairs moved from tables and not returned.
Should these behaviors continue this week, we will then institute significantly stricter cafeteria procedures to ensure that our facilities are appropriately used and protected.
Sister Act
This year our theater program's Spring Production will be Sister Act. Tryouts for Sister Act will be soon, but those interested in being a member of the cast or crew should sign-up now. Students do not have to currently be in a theater class to be a part of the Theater Production. Practices will be after school with performances in April. For more information, stop by the Black Box to meet our new Theater instructor, Ms. Rodriguez!

EBR Parish Academic Honors Celebration
This year 432 juniors and seniors met the minimum cumulative GPA requirement to be invited to attend the Academic Honors College Fair and Scholarship Awards on Tuesday, March 19th. Last year, quite a few Liberty students earned scholarships ranging from laptops all the way to full ride scholarships to LSU and other Louisiana colleges. The list of students is included here and will be posted in Google Classroom.
Process for attending the Academic Honor Network Event:
Each invited student will pick-up a personalized YELLOW permission slip during lunch this week.
Students must return the completed permission slip, including parent signature by Friday, February 2.
Students will only have access to one copy of the permission form and ONLY the YELLOW, PERSONALIZED permission slip will be accepted.
The travel list will be finalized only by using permission slips turned in by Friday, February 2, even if the student is absent. Students are encouraged to retrieve their permission slip Monday and turn it in before the end of the week to avoid any issues.
Senior Breakfast
The senior breakfast date and location have been finalized. We will celebrate the Class of 2024 at the LMHS Senior Breakfast on Wednesday, March 27. Breakfast will be served to each table and a program of celebration and recognition will be presented.
The senior class officers are finalizing theme options for the senior class to vote.
Each senior's breakfast is included in the Senior Fee, which must be paid in full prior to March 8 in order to be included in the count. Students and families can check the status of payment in the JCampus profile and can make payments through the Online Payment System.
Each senior may purchase guest tickets for up to two adult guests. Children and siblings are not invited to this event. Guests may also not be LMHS students. Guest tickets will be $35 each and can be purchased through the online payment system February 19 - March 8.
Only those with tickets purchased by March 8 will be allowed to attend. Attending without eating is not an option we are able to provide.
