School Counseling Week

Please take some time this week to find a way to show appreciation to your student's school counselor. These ladies are at the top of their craft and go above and beyond each day to support students, staff, and families. This week we recognize their accomplishments along with schools around the nation.

Send a card, a positive email, an appreciation, or even a small gift to these hard working ladies!

NSHSS Ambassador

PRESS RELEASE: Jaylyn Chancellor, a Liberty Magnet High School student from Baton Rouge, LA, has been selected to the Ambassador Leadership Program by the National Society of High School Scholar (NSHSS). A role model to peers, Jaylyn was selected out of hundreds of applicants for demonstrating strong academic achievement and a commitment to community service.

Black History Month at LMHS

Check out the activities planned as a part of our Black History Month Celebration - Honoring Roots: Bridging Generations. Special thanks to the African American History classes and their instructor, Ms. Thanni, for planning activities meant to Inspire, Honor, and Educate.

Last Friday's Cookout was a great time to celebrate a time-honored tradition. We are gathering pictures to share!

Homeroom classes may compete in a door decorating contest, with submissions also sent to the EBR Black History Door Decorating event.

The culminating event on Friday, February 23 will include a Zulu-style parade and the Black History Program on an Afternoon Activity Schedule.

Friday, February 9

This Friday, February 9 is a virtual instruction day. This is a required day of classes and teachers will have assignments posted that must be completed and submitted on Friday. Please make sure your student has checked Google Classroom and completed all mandatory assignments for this regular school day.

No club or athletic activities may be held on campus prior to the end of the regular school day (2:25).

Mardi Gras Holiday

The school and school offices will be closed for the Mardi Gras Holidays Monday, February 12 - Wednesday, February 14.

All students and staff will return to campus for classes on Thursday, February 15.

Orange Day

For Teen dating Violence Prevention Month, I CARE encourages staff and students to wear orange to bring awareness to Teen Dating Violence. Liberty's ICARE team will recognize Orange Day on Wednesday, February 7th. ICARE will have a table and staff at lunch shifts to provide students information on healthy dating relationships and how to recognize and report Teen Dating Violence.

Senior Breakfast

The senior breakfast date and location have been finalized. We will celebrate the Class of 2024 at the LMHS Senior Breakfast on Wednesday, March 27. Breakfast will be served to each table and a program of celebration and recognition will be presented.

The theme for the senior breakfast will be "Great Gatsby."

Each senior's breakfast is included in the Senior Fee, which must be paid in full prior to March 8 in order to be included in the count. Students and families can check the status of payment in the JCampus profile and can make payments through the Online Payment System.

Each senior may purchase guest tickets for up to two adult guests. Children and siblings are not invited to this event. Guests may also not be LMHS students. Guest tickets will be $35 each and can be purchased through the online payment system February 19 - March 8.

Only those with tickets purchased by March 8 will be allowed to attend. Attending without eating is not an option we are able to provide.
