Award Programs

2018-2021

From 2018-2021, the OER Campus Committee supported an incentive award program for Leeward faculty and lecturers. In AY 2021-22,  the Leeward program was discontinued, and a new UHCC system program was launched. For more information about the UHCC OER Incentive Program, go to the UHCC OER website.

The Leeward Open Educator Award seeks to recognize instructors who promote or contribute to a culture of utilizing OER in the classroom. Award amount is $500.

The goal of the LDORA is to create renewable assignments based on the principles of OER-Enabled Pedagogy which are designed to be used with specific OER. Award amount is $500, split between instructor and educational technologist.

The goal of the LOERCA is to develop original OER materials where none exists or revise and remix existing OER with the inclusion of original content. Award amount: Varies between $750 - $1,500.

OER Fellowship Program (archive) is one of Leeward CC's former award programs that encouraged faculty to use quality and sustainable OER and zero cost resources to help increase student success. The program spanned over two semesters, and provided incentives to instructors in their adoption, use, and evaluation of OER and zero cost resources in their classes. The OER Fellowship Program helped to foster our current UHCC OER community.  Please feel free to explore this former award program.

Funds for these programs have been provided by the Office of the Vice President for Community Colleges at the University of Hawai'i.
