Zion Central Middle School
2022-2023 Focus Areas
Academic Growth
Zion Central Middle School (ZCMS) has set goals relating to student proficiency and growth in the areas of English Language Arts [ELA] and Math. ZCMS exceeded our goal in reading growth. Attributing factors include healthier learning climates, additional instructional strategies, and targeted reading intervention for our readers below grade level.
Math growth was evident however, ZCMS did not meet the target goal we had set for ourselves. It is important we build from our accelerated growth this year to ensure our students continue to receive an educational experience that sets them up for a lifetime of success.
Culture & Climate
It is also important our ZCMS environment remains a healthy environment for staff and students. For the 2022-2023 school year, a goal was created to focus on establishing trust and leadership. Our teachers and students alike stepped up and took many leadership opportunities within the school to drive success.
On the most recent 5essentials survey, ZCMS made the highest gains in the following categories:
Teacher-Principal trust, Teacher-Teacher trust, Collective Responsibility, Parent Influence on Decision Making in Schools, and Instructional Leadership.
