2022-2023 Areas of Growth
Reading, Math, Attendance, etc.
Reading
In the area of Spanish reading, our achievement went down from Fall to Spring of this school year across all grades. This was our first year giving the NWEA Spanish assessment. Our plan for August 2023 is to review the spring 2023 data with our teachers to determine reading skill areas across the NWEA MAP Learning Continuum for focus in K-2nd grade for the 2023-24 school year.
To address Spanish reading, our plan is to implement Spanish guided- reading groups in K-2nd for 2023-24 for ALL students regardless of achievement during small group instruction.
Our plan is to utilize our full-time instructional interventionist to work with our lowest achieving K-2 students in Spanish reading for small group pull-out instruction.
Our plan is to utilize our 120-day instructional interventionist (recently retired) to work with our next to lowest K-2 students in Spanish reading for small group pull-out instruction.
Our plan is to utilize our NEW art teacher (bilingual endorsed and experienced elementary school dual language teacher) to work with our highest achieving students in Spanish reading for small group pull-out instruction.
Our plan is to provide students with homework that is aligned to their level of Spanish reading achievement through Imagine Learning, A-Z Learning, and other Spanish language art platforms.
Math
In the area of mathematics, our achievement increased from Fall to Spring of this school year across Kindergarten and 1st grade. Our plan for August 2023 is to review the spring 2023 data with our teachers to determine mathematic skill areas across the NWEA MAP Learning. Continuum for focus in K-2nd grade for the 2023-24 school year.
To address mathematics, our plan is to implement additional daily skill-based mathematic work with our K-2nd grade students outside of the mathematics block.
