(Continuing from Pt.1)
A lot to his surprise, he found them talking about the same thing he was. The crystal, evidence, distance, one to one. He thought that they had looked at his open binder earlier and copied him, but they then started to talk about something else. They said that protecting the crystal was a giant extraterrestrial creature that was the first owner of it. John was as surprised as a mouse after being caught in a mousetrap and was extremely impressed on how they had found this out. Even better, they had even more proof to back THIS up, but the beast was titanic and almost impossible to defeat leaving everyone disappointed. Once the group came out of the room, John told them that he had given the discovery of the crystal to the boss first, but never found the monster theory real. The group was crazy to hear this and asked John to join their group of 4 people. They even said that they’d make him leader due to his early discovery. Even though reluctant, he agreed and joined the group.
Fast forward to 4 years later, and the group is going mad on how the vehicle is ready. Being called the ‘Light Horse’ and now having space for entertainment, food, and drinks, this will be one of the most revolutionary voyages ever. The members of the group are Alex, the driver, Malissa, the funny one, Colin, the guy who doesn’t know much, Sarah, the ‘happy at all times’ girl, and John, the leader. They hopped onto the vehicle, waved goodbye, and started their long, long voyage.
“Oh my god! this is so exciting!!!” Shouted Malissa. “I know right?” Said Colin. This was going to be an exciting journey, or so they thought. Even though they were travelling at thousands of miles per second, it felt completely normal inside. There was also connection so they could use their phones and stuff. They had prepped a bunch of weapons to fight off the monster and had already started their first meal of the day. Alex set the Light Horse on autopilot and enjoyed a nice and delicious mushroom soup. After the meal, they all gazed outside and saw all the stars and galaxies and meteors out there. “I wish I could just touch them!” Said John. He had never been in space so seeing this in person was an absolutely awesome experience. All of them took pictures of space on their phones and Sarah even dozed off at the beauty and comfort of it.
After eating one more time, playing games for a while, and taking photos of each other, they all fell asleep instantly. Imagine the comfort of being in space, the sound of the auroras, and the feeling of being taken care of by every one star in outer space. They all woke up on the next day to a rumbling sound coming from the spacecraft. Alex was extremely worried and instantly looked out of the window. “Oh no, everyone! Black hole alert, Black hole alert!” Yelled Alex. There indeed was a black hole sucking the vehicle in and everyone knew what to do. They kept silent, sat in the corner, and held on for dear life. Alex quickly ran to the drivers’ compartment, and started spinning the wheel as fast as a cheetah runs. The spacecraft immediately began turning the other way and was so close to being sucked in by the black hole. Alex thought it was over for them. “Goodbye life.” Thought Alex as he was spinning the wheel. In a magic turn of events, the Light Horse quickly swerved away from the black hole and sped away at max speed. It was so quick that everyone thought they had died, but when it slowed down and went at said normal speed, everyone went crazy. “Oh my god! Oh my god! We’re saved!!!” Exclaimed Alex.
Part 3 out soon!
Sandwich Club
The sandwich club is an ECA to enhance student’s cooking skills, the Sandwich club led by Mrs. Rai is held in the BAO4 classroom. Every lesson on Friday they will bring different ingredients to school. For some ingredients that cannot be bought or made, Mrs. Rai will bring them. They have made many kinds of sandwiches before like Fruit sandwiches with whipped cream and bread bacon with lettuce, etc.
For our article this time, we interviewed a member who is in the sandwich club, he is Caden Man in ASJ6, here is the information he gave us below:
He stated that his favorite sandwich is the fruit sandwich because the different flavors mix and it tastes wonderful. He has also said that making a sandwich is not hard, as it is just putting the ingredients between the two breads, but bringing the ingredients to school is a big complication as you might not find them in grocery stores or supermarkets. The sandwich club includes students from p4-6, each group having up to 7 members. There is also an award for the activity: “if the person achieve 7 gold coins by the end of the term, he or she will be awarded with a secret gift.”

The Invention Of The Compass
The compass is a device that shows directions used for navigation or simply just for people finding their way home. It usually consists of a needle that is different colored and controlled by the magnetic field of the earth. People took advantage of it due to its special force to align itself to the magnetic north and turned it into a directing tool instead.
Compasses often show angles of many degrees, North points at 0°, East points at 90°, South points at 180°, and West points at 270°.
The invention of the compass is attributed to the ancient Chinese, who developed this remarkable navigational tool around the 2nd century BCE. Primarily used for maritime navigation, the compass revolutionized travel and exploration by giving a reliable means of determining direction. The early compasses consisted of a spoon-shaped lodestone, a naturally magnetized mineral, which was placed on a flat plate or suspended in a container of water. The lodestone aligned itself with the Earth's magnetic field, allowing sailors to identify the cardinal directions and navigate with greater accuracy, even in cloudy or foggy conditions.
The compass quickly spread beyond China and made significant contributions to global exploration. It played a crucial role in the Age of Discovery, enabling European explorers like Christopher Columbus and Vasco da Gama to embark on their ambitious travels, confident in their ability to navigate vast oceans. The compass became an indispensable tool for sailors, allowing them to traverse long distances and chart new territories. Its invention marked a significant milestone in human history,
facilitating trade, cultural exchange, and the expansion of empires by opening up new horizons and connecting distant lands.
The invention of the compass by the ancient Chinese in the 2nd century BCE had a profound advantage on navigation and exploration. By harnessing the natural magnetic properties of lodestone, the compass provided a reliable means of determining direction, revolutionizing maritime travel. Its use quickly spread beyond China and played a vital role in the Age of Discovery, enabling explorers to make more progress.
Swimming Team
Similar to other schools, our school also has a swimming team. Our school’s swimming team is awesome, they have won a lot of awards throughout competitions.
Joining a school swimming team offers numerous benefits for students, including physical fitness, mental well-being, and teamwork. Swimming is a low-impact sport that promotes endurance, strength, and flexibility, enhancing swimming techniques, stamina, and speed.
It also helps maintain a healthy weight and reduces the risk of health conditions like obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. The social aspect provides a sense of belonging and support, promoting positive mental health.
Additionally, swimming can also be a team sport . The experiences gained from swimming contribute to the overall development and growth of students, preparing them for future swimmers in sports and life.

Cookery
Do you know what cooking is? Cookery is one of the many ECA’S you can choose. It is an ECA led by Ms. Tracy Chung! This ECA is very popular among students! The first lesson is about a brief introduction/ preparation chat about cooking! Read on to know three things about cooking!
Teamwork
Students will be put into groups of 5-6 people per group. Cooking classes are a team-building exercise that offer a combination of valuable benefits, including teamwork, communication, creativity, and leadership development. Students can enjoy a fun and engaging experience that promotes collaboration while learning new daily-life skills. To end this paragraph, cookery is definitely a fun ECA to join!
Learning How To Cook
Ms.Chung will give us instructions on how to make the food and make sure that we have gotten the right steps.Learning how to cook is a hard task but cookery doesn’t make it complicated or difficult at all! There are even parent helpers who lend us a tremendous helping hand to make sure we are safe and sound. If we have some difficulties about the steps, both Ms. Chung and the parent helpers will always gladly help us solve the problem.
So, don’t worry! You won’t get trapped in your problems. That’s why it makes cookery a simple ECA but you can make a mouth-watering treat!
Handling tools
Ms. Chung provides us knives and many other ingredients. If you are wondering whether the knives are sharp or not. Here’s the answer — They are fruit knives. The students are allowed to bring their own ingredients and Ms. Chung also suggests placing it on top of the food. The students can bring their own tools and also the boxes for storing food(Tapper) and even knives but they are not allowed to bring electrical appliances without the teacher's permission. Do you understand cookery more now?
Interviews:
Ms. Chung-
Why did you have the idea to create a cookery ECA?
What inspired you to make a cookery ECA?
Do you enjoy teaching the students in the ECA
Which recipe do you think is the best?
Here are the answers from Ms.Tracy Chung
1. I would to organise cookery eca because it seems fun to have activity other than sports or arts. Also, it will good for students to try cooking at school as they may have fewer chance to try this at home.
2. Actually, there was cookery eca for junior grades in the previous years. I believed that senior grade students are able to conduct the activity with their creativity and team work.
3. Yes, I do. Most students enjoy the process and love to share their creations with their friends or family. It’s good to see they enjoyed it a lot.
4. I like the sushi roll recipe the most as it’s easy but also healthy and mouth-watering.
Track and Field
Track and field is a healthy sport for exercise since the track and field includes running, jumping, and throwing.
Track and field has 2 main groups and different events.
One is the track event and the other one is the field event. There are sprints, long runs, high jump, long jump, softball throw, and more.
Sprints: 60m&100m
Long run: 200 m &400 m
Relay: 4x100m
Long jump
High jump
Softball throw
These are the track and field events in most of the primary schools.
Sprints(Track event):
YOU NEED TO HAVE THE AGGRESSIVE BOOST OF ENERGY FROM THE START TO THE END TO RUN SPRINTS!
First, you need to be correct in the setting point at the start before the competition starts. You must be very concentrated, so you can be able to hear when to start.
You also need to be aggressive in running sprints because it is necessary to boost all your energy while dashing to the finish line. Furthermore, it is essential to do some warm-ups and some dynamic stretching before attending any kind of sprint training to prevent having severe leg seizures. It is also needed to have plenty of muscles to be speedy in running sprints. If you want to be familiar with running sprints, you definitely MUST train yourself at least twice a week. Once you practice twice a week, you will gradually improve your speed. Warm reminder: DO NOT CONSUME TO MUCH FOOD BEFORE DOING SPRINTS or you will throw up!
Softball throw(Field event):
A fast and accurate throw is essential to every softball throw player. Following the basic rules of softball is very simple but important, also amazing hitting point is needed for throwing and then aiming at your target. To get set, you need to do warmups just like any other sport, or else you will get a seizure, even running. Stepping out of the lane is called an “Illegal throw” that is not allowed in softball. The best routine for beginners can be squats, deadlifts, lunges, pull-ups core exercises, etc. and most of them can help with power on throwing the ball. Moreover, I recommend softball throwing to people who find an interest in strengthening training and incredible power and agility.
Long run:
You MUST HAVE ENOUGH STAMINA and agility TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE LONG RUN.
First things first, you must get the starting point correct before you start running, it is important to NOT use up all your energy only in the first 100 meters. Besides, you should always train and improve your stamina, agility, energy, and speed regularly. It can also be a great assistant in building your mental stamina.
Long jump:
Long jump is a sport of jumping the farthest.Usually, on Games Day, for the long jump you jump into the sand unlike during the P.E. lesson where you jump onto a mat. They measure the length you jump by using a very long ruler. You run about 6-8 steps before you need to jump with your hands at the front.
Reminder: don’t eat before you do the long jump!
High jump:
There is one basic rule about high jump, you have 2 chances to make the jump, or else you will be disqualified from the match. Here are the steps to accomplishing the jump without getting. The high jump has important steps and by thinking that the high jump is an easy sport you're wrong. Here are the steps to preparing for a high jump, first, run only 5 steps with and not with the transition. Secondly, If you have a basketball nearby or empty to use run a three-point line, after practicing do some high skipping to get ready for the real jump to not get injured, and make sure you can jump over the limit you want. The last step to do is the 3 and 5 step overall. After you feel confident enough or feel like you have done enough training you can do the full approach scissor kick.
Relay:
The KEY TO SUCCESS IN RELAY IS TO BE COOPERATE WITH YOUR TEAM, HAVE TEAMWORK, BE AGILE, AND BE CAREFUL.
The distance in relay often is shown as 4x100m. This means 4 people are going to run one 100 meters respectively. All added together equals 400 meters which also means one round of the normal sports ground! In running the relay, you will have to be cooperative with your teammates to have a better chance of winning. A relay is one of the most difficult track events because it requires a person to hand a relay stick to his/her teammates. The relay stick surely can’t be dropped on the ground, otherwise, the entire team is going to be disqualified just because of this. That’s why it is necessary to handle the relay stick carefully!
