     Do you know that our school also has a Chinese debate team? Are there any of your friends who are in the team? 

      Well, you may guess or know that the topic of today is the Chinese debate. Our school’s Chinese Debate has won a lot of prizes. Below, we will be interviewing a person in our school’s Chinese Debate, she is Angel Wong in ASJ6

Interviewer: Good morning Angel, we heard that you are in our school’s Chinese debate team, who is the teacher in charge of your team?

Angel: Good morning Cyra, and thank you for interviewing me. The teacher in charge of the Chinese debate team is Ms Karen Yip, she’s a really nice teacher.

Interviewer: When do you usually have practices? 

Angel: We usually have practices on Wednesdays. 

Interviewer: What do you usually do in your practices? 

Angel: There are quite a lot of things to do during our practices. We have to discuss about our script for the coming competitions and learn how to talk formally.

Interviewer: What kind of prizes has your team got?

Angel: Our team has won 2 medal cups.

Interviewer: Wow, that sounds awesome! Is it hard to practice and remember your script? 

Angel: Yes! It was really hard to recognize and remember the script. Once, I needed to use my recess and morning period time to remember the script. That time was really tiring.

Interviewer: Have you faced any challenges so far?

Angel: Yes, many Chinese words in the script were quite difficult! 

Interviewer: How did you overcome the challenges?

Angel: I asked the teachers and my parents about the words I don’t know. Sometimes, I ask my friends or classmates too! But now, I have overcome it already, because I have learned a lot of words!

Interviewer: Are there any competitions recently or in the future that you have known already?

Angel: Yes of course! We are preparing very hard for the competition and we hope to win awards!

Interviewer: Good luck with your competition and thank you for your time!

YYPS EXPRESS

Olympiad Math is an activity that improves student's math skills. Students who have been chosen to be in the teams have powerful calculating speeds. Olympiad math students learn new methods of calculating in every lesson, making them stand out in the classroom. The Olympiad Math could be very complex, but they still try to deal with the hard process. It is led by Mr. Jaskie Cheung. 

     Now let's interview Ellie from Olympiad Math

Interviewer: Do you enjoy Olympiad Math lessons?

Ellie: Yes! The teachers are very interesting and helpful.

Interviewer: When do you have Olympiad Math classes?

Ellie: We have Olympiad math on Tuesdays at 2:20-3:35.

Interviewer: Did you have any competitions before, did you win any?

Ellie: I have never joined any competitions, but I wish to participate in competitions in the future.

interviewer: What would you do if you could solve any math question?

Ellie: I will start to think harder by myself, then if I still can’t figure it out I will either ask the teacher or my seatmates.

Interviewer: Did you get better at math after joining the Olympiad Math?

Ellie: Yes! Not only does Olympiad math help improve my math skills, but it also gives me extra knowledge about math.

        There were 6 girls who always stayed away from crowds, and only a few people ever knew them. And weird things often happen to them. Their names are Jasmine, Jazlyn, Hailey, Florence, Yat Sum, and Chika.   The girls always had a fine life in YYPS, but on one supposedly normal day, strange things started to happen……

One day the clouds were dark, and the happiness was gone. The teachers started acting crazy and creepy. No student knew what happened, except for the 6 girls. The girls had known the teachers were going to turn into zombies, but they would never tell anyone about the case. It was more than a little bit of zombie teachers, it was a zombie teacher apocalypse and they would take over the world!

The teachers started mumbling nonsense things, then they started to throw things around the staff room. They also acted super mad. As the 6 girls walked up the stairs they heard the strange noises from the zombie teachers. So they peered into the window of the staff room.“There aren't any zombies on this earth, right guys?”  Jazlyn asked. “Well, if you want to know about it, why don't we just find out for ourselves?”  Jasmine said bravely. “Well guys, that's a good idea!”  Yat Sum said. Chika asked “What? Why do we need to go?”  “Because why not?”  Hailey said. “Don’t say this much, let’s go find out!” Florence said.

The six girls went into the staff room where all the teachers gathered. “Ahh!” They all screamed at the horrible sight in front of them. All the computers, papers, and chairs were thrown on the floor “SMASH!SMASH!” All the teachers' skin became green and crinkled, their teeth became sharp and dangerous and their eyes were an unnatural shade of golden yellow. It was a very frightening sight. They ran out of the room as fast as they could. Outside, they blocked the staff room door with everything they had. They stacked up desks and chairs to prevent the teachers from getting out. “Zombies aren’t very smart,  are they?” Florence asked. “I don’t think so, that is what my book said .” Jazlyn replied, “You are a genius, Jazlyn!”Yat Sum said. “What ?” Everyone asked confused. “ The books at the library might help us find the answers to save the teachers!” She explained.” Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!” Jasmine said, rushing down the stairs.

    In no time they were sitting in the library flipping through books. Nobody was there since all the other kids were in their classrooms having lessons and the librarian was already turned into a zombie. A few hours later, Chika finally yelled “ I found it !” “Really?” Hailey asked in disbelief. Chika read out loud “The only way to turn a zombie back into a human is to feed the zombie a special flower called the everlasting flower, these flowers are very hard to get because they are guarded by a powerful dragon. These flowers bloom forever but they don’t work on fully grown zombies. The zombies will become fully zombies at sundown. They can be found at  magical hill.” Below the passage was a map that showed that the magical hill was very close to YYPS. Florence checked her clock, “ It is noon and the sun goes down at six, so we still have 5 hours left.” She said, so with their book in hand,  they continued on their adventure again.

     Suddenly, Zombie Ms Wong appeared. Chika, Yat Sum, Florence, and Hailey freaked out. But Jasmine and Jazlyn exchanged sad and happy glances. They said “Ms Wong don’t leave us, please …” But before  they could even finish the sentence Ms Wong had lost her mind and was saying “Mmm yummy brains!”  She added an evil laugh. The six students ran away and accidentally bumped into tons of zombie teachers. “Ah!” they screamed. 

       As if an invisible force pulled them, They were pulled into a mysterious basement and when they arrived at the basement, these doors locked automatically. “Hey! This must be the basement of the school !” chanted Chika and Yat Sum together. “ Hey guys!”  said Hailey “ Isn’t this the time freezer, the mind controller, and the time machine that we bought from a time traveler a while ago?”  Suddenly the time machine activated, and suddenly a hand appeared and grabbed Hailey. The 5 girls rushed to her aid. And was too sucked into the portal. On the other side of the portal is a yellow orb.

    Suddenly some green goop stuck on their clothes. It began to grow like a vine. The goop wrapped it around the 6 kids. Yat Sum, Hailey, Florence, Chika, and Jasmine screamed and wrestled the goop. However, Florence laughed,“ Ha ha, it tickles!” Jasmine and Jazlyn tried to pull her out of the goop. Unfortunately, they were too late. Florence’s skin absorbed the goop and began to turn into a mindless zombie. The orb doesn't show signs of letting them escape  '`Ahhhhhhhhh!”The rest of the girls shrieked at the top of their voices. (the girls who did not turn into zombies) “Guys, relax. Did you forget my magic book?” Jazlyn said calmly. Jazlyn flipped the pages. “Ah! Found it. According to my research, it says that the goop is named after a mad scientist, and he is called Professor Frankenstein. Since his name is ‘Frankenistein He named the goop Frankigoop. The way to make Florence turn back, we need to say something like this: “Frankie!” So let’s say this together in three… two… one…” “Frankie!” The five girls shouted. Florence turned back into a human being again. “What… what just happened?”  “Florence, if we don’t have Jazlyn here, we are going to die,” Jasmine said. “Really? Thanks for saving our lives, Jazlyn!”  Chika said gratefully. “No time to talk now. We need to get out.” Hailey said. “Finally! Let’s get out of here! It gives me the creeps.”  Yat Sum said. The girls pushed and searched for doors, but they couldn’t budge the wall or even find a door. “ We cannot do this! The wall is too hard, and …” Jasmine said. “Wait!” Jazlyn interrupted Jasmine. “We have powers, remember? I have talking  animal powers…” Florence interrupted, “And I have sonic sound powers! I can hear far far away!” Jasmine added “I also have powers. And I am as strong as a Yor!” Yat Sum said “Yor is a cartoon, Jasmine. She is powerful. But I like  Anya more though. She has the power to read minds! Anyway, I have talking powers! I can talk and lie to people greatly.” The four girls looked at Hailey. Hailey sighed “This is my secret power, and I only will tell you. I  can … control people’s minds. I can control your mind and I know what you’re thinking. Chika is thinking that she wants her parents and her sister. Am I right, Chika?” “Totally! A hundred percent correct, Hailey! Well…” Chika said. The five girls waited patiently for Chika to say her power. Chika said “ I have x-ray eyes. I can see inside you if I shout x-ray mode.” “Let’s open our powers up now,” Jasmine said. The six friends glowed. Light started to form around them. Whoosh! The girls started to transform. The girls have turned. Hailey was thinking something and all of a sudden, Jasmine yelled out “Wait! Jazlyn, can you talk to flying unicorns?”  Jazlyn heard it and smiled. “ Yes. I have one in my magic garden.”  The five girls looked at her. Florence said “ There is a hole in the top. If Jazlyn calls the unicorn, then we can…”  “ Escape!” The six girls yelled. Jazlyn took out a magic flute. She started playing the flute. Not long, they saw a unicorn.

     The unicorn flew to Jazlyn. Jazlyn asked the unicorn, Malen, to take the girls out. With Florence’s help, the six girls finally got out. “ Girls, it’s not going well! We only have three hours left. “ Another bad news, Malen cannot fly for now,”  Jazlyn said sadly. Jazlyn looked at her book.  Suddenly, Jazlyn’s sad glance turned into a happy one. Jazlyn said happily “ We have hope now! We just need to walk for one last kilometer and we will be there. Watch out, magical hill, here we come!” 

    An hour later, the girls finally arrived. The 6 girls( and a unicorn), got ready. Jasmine fed Malen to let the baby unicorn get energy. While the five girls talked about how to convince the dragon. After they were ready, they went to see the dragon. Since that dragon knows human language, Florence started to talk first. “Hello Mr. Dragon, may my friends and I ask you a question? There is something we want to… ask.” The dragon nodded. Jazlyn said “ Mr. Dragon, I will give you something for trading that flower. How about that?” The dragon stared at the girls. The dragon asked the girls, “Why do you need those flowers?”  Jasmine gave Malen to Jazlyn and said “ You see, our teachers———- I mean something happened to our teachers. They become zombies!  So, in Jazlyn’s magical book, it said that if the teachers eat a flower, their curse will be gone.”  The dragon snorted “ If I give you a flower, my one life will be gone. But because of your kindness, I will give you the  flower.”  The six girls cheered. Suddenly, a portal appeared. The six girls thought why is there a portal? Everyone was wondering. Jazlyn said “ I think it is time to go back home. Our…” Jasmine interrupted.  “I know interrupting is not good, but what about the dragon, he sacrificed himself for the flower we need! He is a very kind dragon…” As Jasmine said this, she burst into tears. She sobbed. Jazlyn sobbed too. Since they cared about dragons, the dragon decided to follow Jazlyn. At that time, Jazlyn and Jasmine were crying so hard that they had a JJT(  a Jasmine Jazlyn tantrum). They are lying on the ground and pulling their hair. “ Stop! The dragon is coming with us !” Chika yelled. “ Oh!”  Jasmine said.“ Then let’s step into the portal…

       After that, they went back to YYPS. The dragon said something like a spell, “ Flower, bloom, hear me, and turn our home back to a wonderful place! 

       The teachers and the things they destroyed were back to normal. The six girls( Including Malen) cheered. The dragon got a copy place to sleep. YYPS was back to normal again. The six girls wondered what would happen in their next story. 

The End

As this long living tale begins, we see a middle-aged man named Johnathan (John) in a large research facility thrilled at what he has found. “Yes! Yes! I got it! I got it!”, said John excitedly while looking at his large binder, not paying attention that in front of him, a small group of people were chatting about some sort of extraordinary creature that had power over all existing things in the universe. “Oops! Sorry!” Said John as he bumped into them. They had dropped a stack of photos due to the impact and the pictures scattered all over the place. The images looked quite weird and had an appearance of a large kaleidoscope with contrasting colors on them. John helped pick up a few of the papers, not analyzing them at all, and hurried away to show the boss his findings.

“That guy’s weird.”, said one of the members of the group. “Agreed.”, said another. John finally found the boss of the facility after frantically walking around for 20 minutes in search of him. “What do you have?” Said the boss, whose name is Richard (also called Rick) . “Please look at my discoveries, they could be revolutionary to humanity!” Said John. Keep in mind, John was not a very smart scientist and every time he made a discovery, it would be useless. However, Rick was bored and decided that he didn’t have anything more to do other than look at said ‘discovery’. “Fine. Hand it over.” Said Rick. “Thank you! Thank you!” Said John. John gave Rick the huge binder and Rick opened it and read it.

John said that there is a giant crystal on planet KRX-25D1, which is 6 light years away from earth, and said that if this crystal is obtained, the now new owner can control the entire universe with the singular crystal. Rick thought that this was just another stupid theory he made up until he flipped open another page of the binder, which had infinite proof to back this claim up. “WOW! This is great news! If we manage to get our hands on that crystal, we can help everybody!” Exclaimed Rick. “I don’t want to ruin your joy, sir, but the crystal is 6 light years away, we couldn’t possibly get to that before the entire world is gone!” Said a slightly disappointed John. He had never seen his boss not think of the reasons why something wasn’t possible, it was just impossible. “I think I might just have the thing you need to travel there in time.” Whispered Rick into John’s ear. “What? What!? What is it!?!?” Exclaimed John. He probably said it so loud, even aliens could hear it. “Woah, woah, woah, don’t get to crazy, it requires a LOT of skill to control” Rick said calmly.

Rick talked about a vehicle that could travel thousands of miles in seconds. It wouldn’t take more than a month to get 6 light years across. John was ecstatic about this, but the boss said that it was not yet finished, very dangerous, very hard, and half-impossible to get there in it. Even though it looked like it could fit 40 people, it could only fit 5. Most of it was for the engine. “When can we ride on it??” Shouted John. “It will be finished in about 4 years.” Said Rick calmly. “Can we come in?” Said a muffled voice from outside. “Ok John, you must go, I have some other people coming in. I’ll explain more later. See you!” Said Rick. John was a bit disappointed but hid it with a smiling face. “Thank you!” Said John “Come back later!”. John left and saw that the people at the door were the group he bumped into earlier. Curious, he decided that he would open the door just a little bit and listen.

Perspectives on Art

(Chapter 1) 

     Good day to you! This passage will tell you something about the perspective of arts. What do you think of art? What pops out in your brain? 

     Now, in the first chapter of our perspectives on art , we will start with the famous, well-known drawing, the Mona Lisa by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. The Mona Lisa is valued at $850,000,000 because it is arguably the most famous painting in the world. So, the question comes. Why?  Why is this painting that famous? 

     We have asked the very intelligent AI for this unknown answer. We have chosen the most interesting answers: “Artistic Mastery”.The painting was created by the Italian artist—Leonardo da Vinci . During the Renaissance period (between 1503 and 1506). Da Vinci was known for his exceptional artistic skills and his ability to capture realistic details. The Mona Lisa showcases his mastery of techniques such as sfumato (subtle blending of colors) and chiaroscuro (the contrast between light and shadow).

     Now, let us have a look at what other people think of this unique painting. First of all, we have found two ladies in our school, one is in P6 and the other one is in P4. Will there be any difference as they are in different grades? Well, let’s see.

     Let us start with Angel Wong from ASJ6 first :

     Good morning! When I look at this painting, it shows a mysterious feeling for me. It lets people be curious, and want to find out more about it. Also, I found a weird point inside this painting, why are there no eyebrows? Is it smiling or not? This painting brings me many emotions and questions about it. 

    And now let us look at what Emma Law in BEC4 thinks about:

     Hello, I’m Emma Law from BEC4! I found this picture a long time ago, and it always appears in the news or on YouTube. But whenever I look at this picture, it makes me feel joyful. And it gives me the power to work! Is a nice drawing! I like this painting, and it looks nice!
