        Are you looking for an activity to calm yourself? Are you looking forward to expanding your art bubble? Well if you answer the questions with “Yes”, then you have to join the YYPS Senior Art Pioneer Team. Senior Art Pioneer is a drawing team that encourages students to join different drawing competitions and trains them to be better at art.

        Be it crafts, art projects for portfolio pieces, Art Pioneers are always creating! Every week, they work hard to practice different artistic techniques and processes. The Art Pioneers participate in all kinds of projects, local and international art competitions as well.

        There are about 15 students in this team, they are divided into groups depending on the project they are working on. They use many different types of art materials, such as paint, glass, rocks, etc. it is more interesting than you think! Ms Sun and Ms Lui are in charge of helping and teaching them to create a lot of masterpieces for the school or competitions.

        We are now going to interview ALV6 02 Yannie, one of the Senoir Art Pioneer.

Ellie: Good Afternoon Yannie, how long have you been in Senior Art Pioneer?

Yannie: I’ve been in for about two and a half years now!

Ellie: When do you have your training?

Yannie: Usually, we have training on Tuesdays, and it is held in the Art Room.

Ellie: Why did you decide to join Art Pioneer?

Yannie: When I was young, I discovered a passion for art, and joining the Senior Art Pioneer team allowed me to join different competitions and broaden my horizons.

Ellie: How would you describe Senior Art Pioneer?

Yannie: The Senior Art Pioneer team is a warm and caring small community for artists and sketchers, willing to help each other out. It’s a very fun and interesting ECA to be a part of, and I’m proud of myself for being a part of it.

       We believe that everyone except for absentees have attended the fun Christmas party this year. There are some wonderful activities that were made by teachers. Let’s recap on the fun Christmas Day in YYPS!!!

       Every year, when students come back to school, they can see the festive decorations at the front door that the PTA helpers made, along with other students in Christmas clothes and costumes. Everyone would greet Principal Chiong with joy and happiness in front of the school gate!

       At school, they would start with tons of games like musical chairs and decorating a gingerbread house (for P1 and P 2). The classrooms were filled with laughter and joy . The point of the games is to learn more about this extraordinary festival from the United States of America and to spread their knowledge about Christmas and Santa Claus.

       There were also Christmas activities at the hall! We sang and danced happily and suddenly Santa Claus (in disguise), our previous principal and Mr Ho came! We were so excited that we shouted out. Santa likes to dance too! So we danced with him together. We had a good time together.

       The class party happens every year. Students bring a lot of food like honey chicken wings, cupcakes, chicken nuggets, and ice cream puffs. Students love the cake. It is extremely popular, so it vanished within 5 minutes! We even watch movies and dance with the music like we just dance on the Nintendo Switch!

        After a magical and wonderful day at school, pupils spent their rest of the day with their loving family and friends. We are SURE everyone had a fun day at YYPS that day! Let’s remember this extraordinary day forever! And one more thing, we all hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!!

     Once upon a time, there lived six friends, they were named Jasmine, Jazlyn, Florence, Chika, Hailey and Yat Sum.They wrote in the school newspaper YYPS Express together. They were wondering what to write in their new article when they came up with a new idea……

“I know what to write! Since peanuts are yummy, we should write about peanuts !”  said Jasmine. 

“Of course! Let’s write The Great Peanie of Pinland! ”  Jazlyn said,excitedly. 

So, the six friends started to think about the ideas for the story.

      The girls started to think. Until  Jasmine shouted,

“ I got it  ! How about we start like um…Once upon a time, there was a peanut and its name was Peanie and it lived in Pinland?” 

The six friends smiled. 

“Sure! No problem!” 

So, the six girls opened their iPads and started to write their story. Soon, they had finished their story.

      The six friends read their story out loud.

“Once upon a time, there was a peanut called Peanie, Peanie lived in a valley called Pinland. Peanie and her neighbors loved the valley, but one day, there was a gigantic mouse who wanted to destroy Pinland and eat all the peanuts. So Peanie decided to go find the great  wizard Peanun Yummien to help them . But  unfortunately , before Peanie could find Peanun, the gigantic mouse had already destroyed half of Pinland. So Peanie hurried to find Peanun. 

     Soon, Peanie found Peanun. Peanie asked Peanun to help Pinland be recovered, and Peanun said,

“The only way to save Pinland is to find the magical lake, next find the magical bowl, then collect some of the magical lake’s water, finally pour it onto the gigantic mouse and it will slowly disappear.”  “Why must we use the magical bowl and not a regular bowl?” asked Peanie. “It is because if you use a regular bowl to collect the magical water, the water will disappear,Only the lmagical bowl can hold the magical water and not let it fade .”  Then Peanun walked away, further, and further. So Peanie hurried to find the magical water and magical bowl.

      On Peanie’s way to find the magic bowl and magical water, she saw her best friend, Pealice. Pealice said “Hey Peanie !,What are you doing here ?”Peanie replied “Hi,Pealice! I am searching for the magic bowl and the magic lake to save Pinland. Do you want to join me?” Pealice nodded joyfully. So they continued on their journey together. After walking many miles, they finally found what they were hoping to achieve, the magical bowl! The magical bowl was golden, with yellow glitter and sunflowers stuck on the edge of the bowl. It was gorgeous.”Wow,now that is amazing! Let’s take it back to Peanun!” said Pealice.

    When they were taking the bowl back, a portal appeared and brought them to a fantasy land where magical things happened. They saw unicorns, unicats and even angels. They walked  for a long time and finally they found the magical  lake.  They were overjoyed.  They took the magical bowl and placed it into the water. Soon the bowl was filled to the brim. “But how do we get back?” Peanie asked. Just as she said it, a portal appeared before their eyes and they were instantly teleported back to Peanun. Peanun didn’t look surprised to see them. “The gigantic mouse has already won almost everyone has been eaten only the lucky ones have survived and are now hiding. I have covered the house with powerful enchantments but even my magic cannot last forever ” Peanun informed them . But Peanie and Pealice would not give in “No, there is still hope . See we got the magic bowl filled with magic lake water!” Somehow the water was still in the bowl and not a bit had spilled out.

     The house started shaking, the mouse was here! “Run !” Peanun told them urgently.  But Peanie bravely marched out of the house . There was the mouse! The gigantic mouse looked surprised to see that she was not running. She walked straight to it and spilled the water on it’s paw “Squeak !” The mouse squeaked in pain and it slowly began to disappear. All the damage the mouse had caused suddenly vanished. Scratch marks disappeared from houses,paw prints faded away and in the mouse’s place now stood confused peanuts all from different places in Pinland.

       A few days after the near destruction of Pinland  the only thing everyone could talk about was how Peanie and Pealice saved the village. So they became the heroes of Pinland  and lived happily ever after , devoting their lives to protecting Pinland .

The end  

The six friends took a deep breath “Our story was amazing. I loved it guys!” Yat Sum said and everyone agreed so they sent their work to the teachers and waited for the result. A few days later,the results came and it was the best day of their lives …“Wow! Our work is on the newspapers! I’ve always been dreaming of this!”Jasmine said excitedly. 

    Do you know what is a School Bus Line Leader? Do you know what they do?

      The school bus line leader is one of our school’s school helpers. They help the school bus aunties and teachers with disciplining the school bus line. In this article, we are going to interview Jupiter Chu from ASJ6, who is a School Bus Line Leader. 

Interviewer: Good morning Jupiter! Why did you choose to join the School Bus Line Leader?

Jupiter:  Well, sorry to tell you, I didn’t choose to be a school bus leader, but I was chosen to be a school bus leader.

Interviewer: Ok! Which teacher is in charge of this team?

Jupiter: I don’t think there is a teacher in charge of the school bus leader since it’s not an official D&C team duty. But there is a teacher who is in charge of the whole school bus line, Ms Bay Ng.

Interviewer: How many School Bus Line Leaders? And who are they? 

Jupiter: There are six School bus leaders in total, but I only know a few of them. They are Trinni(Bus B), maybe Pansy( Bus D), and Sofie. I will send you the new information when I know.

Interviewer: What do you need to do?

Jupiter: We need to keep discipline in the school bus and school bus line. Sometimes we need to help the school bus auntie to count the number of students or help students on the school bus if needed.

Interviewer: It sounds incredible! Have you faced any complications or challenges?

Jupiter: Of course, I faced difficulties and challenges in this job! A few students are mischievous and it’s pretty hard to overcome them.

Interviewer: Wow! How did you overcome these challenges? 

Jupiter: I would just write their name down and tell the teacher the next day, or call them to sit with the school bus auntie.

Interviewer: Do you enjoy joining this team?

Jupiter: I enjoy this job very much, I can be friends with the lower grades students, overcome problems, and care about my peers.

Interviewer: Thank you for your time and hope to see you soon!

  The Lost Children in YYPS

           Once upon a time, there were six girls from YYPS, they were named Yat Sum, Chika, Jasmine, Jazlyn, Florence, and Hailey. They always loved to go to YYPS Express and write stories for their school newspaper together. But one day, the girls were told to go to the garden at their school for YYPS Express. When they arrived at the big old yard, they saw a giant that shouted “The whole world! I must capture the whole world!”The six girls were shocked since they had magical powers themselves, however, they weren’t so worried about the giant's existence but more about why it was here at their school. The giant saw the 6 girls. He smirked, “Looks like today I’m lucky! Argh! Come to me, my food! Hahaha!” The giant created a portal that sucked the girls in. “Aaah!!!” they screamed. 

    The 6 girls were sucked inside the portal. “Wait, what?”  Yat Sum said. “ We are in  the dungeon of Horrorkingdom ?” “Full of  bones.”  Jasmine added “ Guys? How do we get outta here?”  Chika asked worriedly. Jazlyn said calmly “ At least we have a key.” It was floating up in the air, nearly touching the dungeon ceiling. Meanwhile at YYPS, the teachers said “Where are the 6 girls? Did they forget we have YYPS Express today?” Soon the teachers became very worried about them.

      While the girls were at the dungeon of Horrorkingdom, Chika said “ I have read a story about Horrorkingdom before and the book said the key of horror is kept at the castle dungeon because the king of Horrorkingdom wants his prisoners to be stuck there forever then he can get their magic powers all to himself! The book also says that the giant we saw works for the king. He captures magical creatures from other worlds, including humans like us! The king’s name is Horronsy, he loves the key of horror because the key has the magic of the world. The key absorbs a little bit of the magic from anything close to it every day, and when it has the maximum number of magic, it will release the powers to the king. And if we want to get the key, we must stop the key by absorbing anything, or else the key will absorb our powers.”  But it was already very late, and the girls were too tired to stop the key from absorbing everything today, so they fell asleep.

     The next day, Florence woke the girls up with a frightened look, saying “Girls, we lost  our powers!” Haliey rubbed her eyes, and said “No way!” Jasmine said, “Florence is so silly, let’s fly!” Jasmine flew up into the air, and ended up falling.“Ah!” .“We’ll catch you!!!”Jazlyn said, “Got you!” “What should we do? The key already absorbed our powers.  We don’t have any more powers! So now we can’t go back to school.” Chika said “I am more worried about food and water than going to school, what should we do?” said Florence.“I know, we should be brave, I will get the key, then we can get out of here.” said Yat Sum. She jumped in the air to grab the key, while Chika yelled “Noooo, we forgot that the key will absorb her! Don’t get that key!” Chika jumped to save Yat Sum, but the key was so powerful that it absorbed both of them. “Oh No !” the other 4 girls yelled. Now they had 2 problems in front of them, what would they do?

       Jasmine said bravely, “Guys, we need to save Chika and Yat Sum.” “That’s true, let’s jump up and grab the key together,” Jazlyn said. “Three, two, one, jump!” So, the four girls jumped while the key sucked the girls in. “ Wait a minute, this place is another place! I remember I read it in a book. We are now in Horrorbubblekingdom.” Jazlyn said, reading her book as she loved to study new things. “That reminds me. I have been here before. See those mushrooms? They are poisonous when you touch them. Your hand will become purple! It’s scary.” said Hailey. “ Nonsense! When you eat those mushrooms, your skin will be purple, not by  touching it.” Jasmine corrected.“ According to my research, Jasmine and Hailey are both right.” Jazlyn said. Jazlyn goes on “ But, you won’t be poisoned if you jump on the  mushrooms.” So, to get back to Yat Sum and Chika, they jumped  on the mushrooms.``Hey, look who’s there!” Florence pointed at two people, it was Yat Sum and Chika! Reunited again,  together they jumped on the last mushroom, and the six girls were sucked by the key once again.

       Woosh… Yat Sum, Chika, Hailey, Jazlyn, Florence, and Jasmine had been transported to another place again. This time, they saw a sign that said “Welcome to Horrormonsterland of monsters!” Florence shuddered. “ Monsters? This is soooooooooooo creepy. I wish I could go back home right now!”  Jasmine laughed. Soon, the six girls started to walk into the creepy Horrormonsterland of monsters.

       Suddenly a werewolf jumped out and bit Florence on a full moon. Florence began to change shape. She turned into a werewolf too! None of the children wanted to become mindless werewolves. An idea popped into Jazlyn’s brain “Hey! Werewolves only change into werewolves when it is a full moon so we just need to wait till daytime!”  Chika opened her encyclopedia and flipped to the chapter “ WEREWOLVES OF HORRORMONSTERLAND”  She read it out “ In Horrormansterland it is always a full moon……….” Jasmine turned pale “ If there is always a full moon then, IF WE DON’T ESCAPE THEN WE WILL  ALSO TURN INTO WEREWOLVES AND LIVE HERE FOREVER!!!” 

      “Calm down, Jasmine,” said Jazlyn calmly, who was also looking at the book. " The book also said, "To cure a werewolf you have to pour a type of magical lava that sings horrible screechy songs on top of the werewolf’s head and body.” So Jasmine, Jazlyn, Chika, Yat Sum, and Hailey set off to find the lava. 

    Suddenly the giant appeared and when everyone was not looking at the giant, the giant grabbed Florence. “Help!” screamed Florence, still in werewolf form. Jasmine turned and tried to grab her. Unfortunately, she was too late to save her and the giant teleported her to Horrormonsterland.  “Oh no, we must find the lava as soon as possible, or else one by one we will all turn into  werewolves !” Gasped Jasmine.

Soon, Chika, Yat Sum, Jasmine, Jazlyn, and Hailey started to go find the strange kind of lava to save Florence. But they didn’t know how to get there, just then, Jazlyn took out her book of Horrorland and read “ Chapter 9: How to find the Magical Lava.” Then Jazlyn found a map inside the book of how to find the magical lava, so she took out the map and started looking at it. The 4 other girls followed Jazlyn through a big wooden Tunnel, but the only thing inside was a little watermelon, the girls didn’t know what to do with it, so they took the watermelon with them on their adventure. 

After a few hours, Yat Sum, Chika, Jazlyn, Jasmine, and Hailey arrived at the pool of magical lava. Hailey used her little wooden box to collect the magical lava and told the other 4 girls to be ready to go back to where Florence was. So they ran back and poured the magical lava onto Florence and soon turned back into a normal person again. Soon they started on their adventures again.

      “We need to go back to Horrorkingdom and get the key to return to school !” Florence said. “But how?” Jasmine wondered. “I know!” Jazlyn exclaimed, pointing at her book. Everyone crowded around her to read it. The map said that Horrorkingdom was very close to Horrormonsterland. After walking for a few minutes they finally made it to Horrorkingdom again. “Look! There’s the key!” Florence said.“Wait! We can’t touch the key or we’ll get sucked in!”Hailey said, suddenly alarmed. The 6 friends thought and thought while Jazlyn flipped around in her book. She finally found a passage about it, and it read “To stop the key from absorbing magic all you have to do is get a pair of crystal gloves but this can be very hard as crystal gloves can be very rare”. On the map, it said to look somewhere called Crystal Caves. Just then a portal appeared before them and sucked them in. 

     In a flash they appeared in a cave with shiny crystals, it hurt them just to look at it. They walked around in the cave looking at the crystals. “This one is so big,” Jazlyn said gently, touching it. The crystal looked at her and it blinked, Hailey screamed “The crystal is moving !”When they finally realized there was a  troll in the cave disguised as crystals it was kind of late, they stared at each other for a few minutes until Jasmine said “Um…Hi? I’m Jasmine and my friends are Chika, Yat Sum, Jazlyn, Florence, and Hailey. Nice to meet you?”

the troll said “Hi. I’m Trolladora.  Nice to meet you.” “Hi, we are looking for a pair of crystal gloves. Can you help us?” Jazlyn interrupted. “Sure, I got some right here, but l can’t give them to you for free. They are very hard to find .” “I know!” Chika pulled the watermelon they found in the wooden tunnel earlier and gave it to her. “What is this ?” asked Trolladora, confused. Since she lived in a cave she never went outside before. “It is a watermelon that grows outside in the sun. Can we please exchange this for the pair of gloves?”  Chika asked. Trolladora thought for a while and said “Very well” She reached into her pocket and pulled out a pair of beautiful, crystal colored gloves. And they handed her the watermelon “Thank you!” Hailey said, “We’d love to stay here and talk more but we have to go now!”. Trolladora looked sad but said, “It’s okay, I  understand!”. As always the portal appeared out of nowhere and sent them back to Horrorkingdom. “Bye !” They shouted.

       As soon as they got there, Florence put on the crystal gloves and slowly reached for the key. As soon as she touched it alarms started to ring but since she didn’t get absorbed she quickly put it in her pocket and the  6 friends started to run. They reached the door with guards chasing them. The key flew into the door, and as soon as all six of them got in the door shut with a slam. They were instantly teleported back to school. Luckily no one saw them appear or it would have been very complicated.

         They had been gone for a few days on their adventure,  as time passed differently in magical places.“Where were you all?” the teachers would ask them “ On an adventure …” they would always reply mysteriously.  They only shared the details with two teachers Mr Stringer and Mr Zoricic, who taught YYPS Express. Mr Stringer suggested that they write it in here, so they did! And here is the result…but as stories always end they lived happily ever after never to be bothered by giants again.

The End  

     Christmas Day is a YYPS tradition for students to play fun activities, eat delicious food, and watch interesting movies, but what are the secrets behind it? Today we are going to talk about the secrets behind Christmas Day in YYPS, therefore, we interviewed  Ms. Tam, the ECA Coordinator of YYPS. We found some important information about it.

Brief Information 

   The tradition of having Christmas Celebrations in YYPS started roughly 18 years ago. We can do a lot of different things on that day. For example: lucky draws, classroom games, etc. We have a lot of fun on that day.

Behind-the-scenes 

   When Christmas comes, the school will have different decorations, and other things for Christmas. Who makes them? Ms Tam mentioned in one of our interviews, that The English Department is in charge of all the items and preparations ready for Christmas. The PTA mothers are in charge of preparing the glass door area decoration every year. We need to say thanks to them as they give us a marvelous Christmas.

Difficulties on Preparation 

   When teachers prepare for the stuff, they faced a massive challenge, which was “The space in the Hall”. There are a lot of students in YYPS, and the school hall is not enough to fit all the students (both junior grades and senior grades) together in the hall to participate in the “Hall Games” activity. Eventually, the teachers found a great solution, which was to split the assembly into two periods. One for Junior Grades and another one for Senior Grades.

Conclusion 

   Christmas Day in YYPS is extremely remarkable and full of joy. The PTA members and teachers do their best to help us prepare for the yearly and marvelous Christmas party. Thanks to the teachers and the ones who helped prepare this incredible Christmas celebration. Also, we need to thank Ms. Tam for giving all the information.

     The YYPS Track and Field team is a team for students to engage in sports. They have to train their fitness, running skills and much more . They won a lot of trophies and awards for our school ,  they also helped the school to grow a lot .

Practice

     The members of the Track and Field are ready for the Track and Field Primary School PLK Affiliated Primary School Athletic Meet. They practise for two hours each day in intensive sports. After lots and lots of hard work, the Track and Field Team won the competition!

Tuen Mun Joint Schools Athletic Championship 2023

     The Track and Field Team joined another competition after the PLK Affiliated Primary School Athletic Meet. It was called the Tuen Mun Joint Schools Athletic Championship 2023. It was hosted on 2 July, 2023. However, they didn’t win the overall championship. The teachers, coaches and the students were disappointed, but their energy and enthusiasm did not deteriorate! Let's wish them luck for their next competition!

    After the last competition was over, the Track and Field Team felt satisfied and pleased . They were the overall champion out of 25 Po Leung Kuk schools. There were many events in the competition, but the team made it to the top. The yyps track and field team went through tons of challenges to make the school grow . We are all very  proud about the Track and Field Team. Let’s give them a round of applause!
