Purpose:
To explore a variety of mark-making with the brush tool, along with a variety of techniques to create a digital landscape painting;
To practice using the tablet and stylus with Adobe Photoshop;
To create works of art that use different subjects, themes, symbols, and images;
Demonstrate increasing level of competence in use in the elements of art and principle of design to create a digital landscape (line, color, shape, form, texture; unity, variety, contrast, movement, emphasis, and balance).
The first step in the process was sketching out a concept in my sketchbook. After finding a concept I liked I went and photographed the sketch. I then uploaded it to photoshop and got to blocking in my colors. After finishing up with blocking I went on to the base painting. Once I got my primary shapes and shadows in, I went onto details. In the detail stage I added more details to all my layers. After I finished with that I added my vocal point (that being the big cats) then I added gradient shadings to the whole piece, some texture, and a few last minute details and then I was done.
I’ve learned a lot from this project. I learned how to blend and paint better in photoshop as well as learning how to add references onto the program.
