What project am I the most proud of and why? Well, I think I'm the most proud of my watershed tile! Personally, I'm not a big fan of ceramics and sculpting as I find it messy and difficult to do. But I definitely surprised myself when we did the watershed tiles. I actually enjoyed sculpting the fox and found it really relaxing and satisfying. Now that I know I enjoy sculpting I may attempt to do more of it in the future!
What did I learn this semester that helped me grow as an artist? I think the one thing that helped me the most was learning about paint mixing. Ever since we learned about how to make colors more intense, muted, tinted, and shaded, I've been able to use more variety and value within my own paintings. I often struggle with color mixing and I've been avoiding using color in my paintings because of it. But, now with the knowledge of how to mix paints and get the right colors I feel more confident and motivated to use color in my paintings rather than just doing grayscale. Another thing that I learned this semester that's helped me out as an artist is drawing in space. I enjoy creating comics and knowing how to properly place objects in space is extremely important to know for the medium! Ever since we learned the techniques on how to accomplish this I've been able to use it with my own artwork and it has helped a lot!
For me I enjoy making art for entertainment/display, but I also like the idea of being able to make money off of it as well.
It would be nice to learn more about color theory or exploring different art mediums that I might enjoy this semester.
Though I understand we may not get into this subject during this class, I’d love to learn more about graphic design and illustration! I’m also interested in learning more about painting with acrylics.
