Something that I'd love to learn this year is how to properly use Adobe Photoshop. So far the only two digital art programs I've used have been Procreate (My primary program) and Autodesk Sketchbook. Photoshop and the other adobe programs are whats used in the professional art field so I think it'd be good for me to learn how to use them.
I believe I have met my goal for the semester. Throughout this class I have been shown how to properly use photoshop. When we did our digital paintings I learned how to paint and download brushes. For another project, the morphing one to be exact, I learned how to use the auto select tools and how to do masking. With auto selection and masking I am able to properly edit components out of photographs and to insert them into other photos. I was also introduced to the clone stamp tool which helps me edit photos easier. Overall, I have widened my understanding of the photoshop program and can now easily use it, so I have met my semester goal.
The project I am probably the most proud of would have to be my morphing project. This was my first time ever using photoshop to edit images and I had a lot of fun doing so. It was nice to be able to mess around with the color and shading layers in order to make the image look believable. In addition to that It was cool to be able to learn about masking and the clone stamp tool. With all these aspects combined I was able to create a convincing photo of a gryphin. I think this project was the one that affected my learning the most. The reason for this is because I have never masked or edited photos before. Yes, I have done very minor editing in the past, but this allowed me to do so in a professional and more proper way. In conclusion, I am very happy with how this piece turned out and I think it looks decent for my first attempt at photo editing.
What do I plan to do in the future?
I would love to continue to use photoshop and to further my understanding of the program, It would be amazing to be able to make personal projects with it. I hope to be able to take graphic design 2 next year if possible so I can continue to grow with my skills in regards to adobe and photoshop. I had a lot of fun this semester and I am looking forward to what I'll learn next in the digital art field.
