Andy Warhol was instrumental in the widespread popularity of pop art. His art is very interesting to me since he showcases the normal everyday objects of the average person in a way that makes them seem extraordinary. This is a great example of his work: Coca-Cola. This subject is a classic Coca-Cola bottle with the brand name in the background. This was a good representation of pop art since the subject is very popular, easily recognizable, and associated with pop culture.
Roy Lichtenstein was a very well-known artist who created many famous paintings. His style consisted of many comic-stye pieces. This example is from his early years, before he switched from recognizable symbols in pop culture, like Popeye, to more generic figures. I like this art style because of the bright colors and they often have stories attached to them that are either obvious or ones you could make up. Roy's work is fairly simple, but often with complex undertones.
