Internship/Apprenticeship
Meet w/ Ms. Brockelbank to discuss your options!
An Internship ELO provides 11th and 12th grade students the opportunity to earn academic credit while exploring a career of interest, interacting with professionals in that field and gaining workplace skills.
Benefits for students include:
Gain exposure and work experience in a field of interest.
Develop career skills in a work setting.
Connect educational goals and objectives to career paths and bring relevance to core academic content.
Build a strong professional relationship with a mentor who shares the same interest.
Past and current Internships have included:
Antique auto car sales/restoration
Advocacy Work
Political Activism
Physical Therapy
In order to receive credit for a Internship ELO, a student must complete the following components:
Complete an ELO Design Plan identifying an essential question and learning goals.
Connect with an outside mentor and/or business partner in your chosen career field. Your sponsor will provide student weekly on-site training and communicate with your ELO Coordinator about your progress. (Ms. Brockelbank and Mrs. Spear can help you find an Internship site!)
Reflect weekly on your progress including discussing your progress with your ELO Coordinator and mentor and identify next steps or changes to help meet your learning goals.
Research will be a natural part of the internship process and will include any online research related to the career as well as an informational interview with your mentor. Create and submit a bibliography/resource list.
Develop a tangible Final Product or Final Reflection related to your essential question and learning goals that demonstrates your knowledge and skills on the subject.
Prepare a Final Presentation to summarize your learning.
