Purpose
To learn how to visually communicate a message through Graphic Design:
To demonstrate the creative process in designing a logo;
To use creative problem solving skills to design a clear, original, and effective logo that represents the YHS Library.
My logo ideas originated as simple objects that were related to a library, innovation, and learning. I also included a catchphrase to emphasize the idea that the school library represented more than just books, but worked away from this idea after learning that wasn't what the client wanted. On my second round of logo drafts, I listened to the client's feedback and designed three logos with interesting objects, one with a brain, one with a reading lamp, and another with a lightbulb. I liked the circle I had drafted around my lightbulb design, but learned that the client liked the brain better, so I decided to replace the lightbulb inside the circle with the brain.
