Abstract

Resum

The center of my project is wool and what is involved in the process of crafting, creating and manufacturing textile products with this fantastic natural material. From the shepherds who graze their sheep to fashion designs.

First I delve into the life of a transhumance shepherd, Pere Casas Auquer. I explain how the transhumance was done. I also investigate the sheeps, how they were marked to distinguish them during the transhumance, the different breeds and their productivity, according to meat, milk and wool. I focus on the types of wool, why it is used, and I make an explanation of wool in fashion design. I research a clothing designer named Míriam Ponsa who uses wool as a key element. 

In the practical part I design a logo for a sheep branding iron, put it into practice and test if it works properly. I design a collection of four necklaces, incorporating wool alongside other materials. Using these designs I make them by hand. Finally, I create a marketing platform to give visibility to the collection.

El centre del meu treball és un material natural com la llana, des del seu origen en els ramats de xais fins al procés artesà de manipulació, creació i elaboració de productes tèxtils. Parteix dels camps de pastura i arriba als dissenys de moda.

Començo explicant en què consistia la transhumància i la vida d’un pastor transhumant, el meu rebesavi Pere Casas Auquer. També investigo aspectes relacionats amb els xais: com es marcaven per distingir-los, quines varietats hi ha i quina productivitat té cadascuna, segons s’aprofiti la carn, la llet o la llana. De la llana n’estudio els tipus i la utilització, per exemple quan s’incorpora a la moda. En concret, investigo l’obra de la dissenyadora Míriam Ponsa, que utilitza la llana com a element clau.

Com a pràctica he realitzat el disseny d’un ferro de marcar ovelles i he comprovat que funcioni bé. Aixímateix, he creat una col·lecció de quatre collarets de llana combinada amb altres materials. Per acabar, he donat visibilitat a la col·lecció a través de les xarxes.
