It has a very important associative fabric that highlights the cultural and artistic activity being the birthplace of the first state television in the state.

At present, and as a result of the work coordinated by the City Council itself, the Environmental Education Plan is being carried out, where both educational centers and other educational agents (formal and non-formal) are part of it and very actively developing projects of a transversal nature, linked to the environment and with a vocation for pedagogical renovation.

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

The educational project of the Institut Pla Marcell bases its educational action on a clear commitment and the construction of the community based on the values of cooperative work, the implementation of the STEAM methodology, multilingualism and the reading promotion.

Pla Marcell Secondary School is characterized by several "brands" of the center, among which we can emphasize its relationship with the STEAM methodology.

The pedagogical and curricular use of TACs in all subjects, by all students and teachers, with a strong presence of technology in the classroom. There are no textbooks in the Marcell Plan and the learning process is transversal.

The development of the methodology of projects in a fairly broad timeframe in which the competences and contents of the scientific, technological, artistic and social fields work, as they integrate the subjects of Technology, Social, Visual and Plastic Sciences, and Natural Sciences.

Educational innovation and transformation very present in the culture of the center, which can be seen, for example, in the fact of being one of the centers of reference of the Escola Nova 21 Program or the relevant role that it plays in the Impulsive Group of the Environmental Education Plan .

Numerous scientific dissemination activities, robotics and programming projects, 3D printing, mobile device learning, scientific experimentation, manipulative mathematics, and so on.

The reading promoting by dedicating 25 minutes a day, the strong relationship and involvement with the environment with a feeling of community, the PCT projects of cooperative research and creation, personal research spaces... and other "lines" of the center which can be further linked to the STEAM methodology.

We consider it’s highly interesting to create open and effective exchange environments through classroom observation and modeling of methodologies, both internally at the center, as well as with teaching staff and external experts.

In the school, there are teachers with a long history and experience in teaching mathematics, technology, science and arts, some of which are teacher trainers working for the Department of Education and participate in numerous work groups and seminars (promoters of the Mathematical Photography group, from the “Carde9+1”, Competitive Evaluation, to the Teacher Trainer Methodology group, Working Group of the ICE of the UB on Methodological Change ...).
