GB6: Experiences of workplaces
Students at XP Gateshead have:
Worked in the field with geologists to sample rocks and published their findings in a book.
Worked in an architects studio to plan for how derelict land should be put to use.
Worked alongside energy auditors to determine how our building could be more sustainable.
Worked in a hospital to respond to emergencies in simulated scenarios.

Working alongside experts, and carrying out authentic fieldwork is an integral part of our approach.
Students do the work of experts, as experts, alongside experts in the field - as opposed to hearing from experts about the work that they do.
This is a part of our regular curriculum offer, and so students learn content whilst also learning about careers - discovering passions and opening perspectives to pathways that they may not already have considered.
Formal Work experience
Students at XP Gateshead will carry out formal work experience as part of their studies in Year 10.
Currently we have cohorts up to Year 9.
