The Section 125 Plan offered through American Fidelity Assurance Company allows you to deduct needed benefits from your gross earnings before taxes are computed. Current after-tax expenses for insurance products and benefits can now be paid for with pre-tax dollars. This benefit helps you reduce your taxable income and increase your spendable income. The products below are offered during online enrollment periods. Reimbursement accounts MUST be actively re-elected each year during open enrollment. The accounts will close if this does not take place.

The Health Savings Account (HSA) associated with our Anthem high deductible health plans is not through American Fidelity. You will have the option during online enrollment to select an HSA if you enroll in one of the two high deductible health plans. After enrollment, you will need to visit UMB's website to open the bank account. If the account is not opened, no deductions can occur.

You can direct a part of your pay, on a pre-tax basis, into special accounts that can be used to reimburse yourself for dependent day care expenses and/or unreimbursed medical expenses. As you incur expenses, you submit the appropriate claim paperowork for reiumbursement of your expense. They also now offer an American Fidelity Debit card for immediate access to your account for medical expenses.

Short term disability insurance is used to supplement a portion of your income in the event that you are unable to work for medical reasons for 30+ days. Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) protects your job and health insurance benefits for up to 12 weeks but does not protect income. A common short term disability claim is maternity leave.
