The real estate industry is subject to the ebb and flow of the economy: When money is available to consumers, they have the opportunity to utilize funds to purchase property. Conversely, when money is difficult to come by, consumers may benefit from lower prices and decreasing rates of interest. In either scenario, the value of a piece of property is related to a variety of conditions, including the land, location, and natural resources available.
In ancient Sumer, having a great location meant conquering multiple challenges to make the most of the land and resources. Since the Sumerians were able to resolve four (4) major issues, their city-states are developing at a rate that is attractive to prospective home buyers. How can you show this location to be desirable for development and encourage prospective buyers to move here?
Similarly, the Nile River showcased the importance of "Location, location, location!" Where would you have people settle in Egypt, given all you learned in Mesopotamia?
India had unique and intriguing terrain: eight (8) different options for settling near physical features. How will you determine which location(s) support the most successful living opportunities for survival and growth?
When a house no longer feels like home, homeowners are left with a big financial and emotional question: renovate or sell it? Love It or List It helps fed-up homeowners decide. In each hour-long episode Realtor David Visentin and designer Hilary Farr compete for the homeowners' final decision to stay or go. David's insider perspective on the real estate market helps target listings to prospective buyers, but Hilary is determined to show homeowners that, within their budget, she can transform their worn-out house into a castle they can love. If the owners decide to list it, Hilary's hard work adds to the home's resale value. It's a tough decision either way. Which choice would you make?
"The Rise of Sumerian City-States" demonstrated how Mesopotamians overcame challenges to settle between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in the region of Sumer. Now that you know the solutions to the major problems they faced, you're prepared to encourage others (in ancient times) to move to this region! Similarly, understanding the geography of Egypt and India highlights how some locations are suitable for settlement, while others could spell disaster if people try to live there!
