Dig It! magazine is the world's top resource for all things historic and ancient, covering everything from the discovery of King Tut’s tomb by Howard Carter in 1922 to the unearthing of Mohenjodaro, also in 1922.  Recently, further excavations at the site of Mohenjodaro have led to even greater discoveries and artifacts that provide insights into this ancient city and the culture of its people.

While the excavations and discoveries are being reported and written about, you have the task of designing a mini magazine for the next “special edition” of Dig It! magazine.  Can you envision a leading page that will attract the eyes of the reader?  Will your cover be infamous for highlighting the secrets of the ancient world?  It's up to you to make this mini magazine fit in on the magazine shelf, but stand out to its subscribers!

Student 1- Editor/Writer

Student 2- Advertiser/Writer

• Creates one article

• Creates an advertisement

• Edits Magazine before it goes to “Print” for spelling/grammar/flow

Student 3- Travel Page/Writer

• Creates one article

• Creates a “Travel Page”

• Edits Magazine before it goes to “Print” for spelling/grammar/flow

Student 4- "In the next issue"/Writer

• Creates one article

• Creates a "In the next magazine issue" article. (Can be anything in history)

• Edits Magazine before it goes to “Print” for spelling/grammar/flow

*If time, all students will create a voiceover using Screencastify for extra credit*

Create a mini magazine about artifacts from the Ancient River Valley Civilizations (Mesopotamia, Egypt, The Indus, and China).

 Highlight the artifacts that were found at the site.  Design a short magazine that includes the following:

• • Cover page:  attract readers with visuals, layout, and text

    • Article 1:  present one of the artifacts/finds from the site

  • Advertisement:  develop an ad that fits in with the topic of the magazine

    • Article 2:  present one of the artifacts/finds from the site

  • Travel page:  shows the location information relative to the site

    • Article 3:  present one of the artifacts/finds from the site
