Greetings Schoolcraft Families,
We are so happy to be back together again. As we continue to adjust our policies to keep our students safe, we appreciate your patience and understanding.
Please remember, Morning Drop-Off starts at 8:35am. I tend to be out there a few minutes early but students can't enter the building until 8:35am. Please have your child ready with their bags and their mask on so they can jump out quickly. If you see adults waving you forward, please pull up . We will send the student to the correct door. Thank you for watching for traffic and pulling around slowly. Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade Afternoon Pick-Up starts at 3:40pm. 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Pick-Up starts at 3:50pm . Please show your PINK SIGNS in the window so we can have your child ready and do not arrive early because it causes a traffic jam. I saw one parent rubber band her pink sign to her passenger side visor/ mirror and she just pulled down the visor and we could see the student names perfectly.
We have two new staff members joining us this month. First, we have a new full time building substitute teacher joining us this year. Mr. Newton is a former Waterford graduate and he studied English at Wayne State University. Mr. Newton speaks German and Dutch, enjoys painting historical miniatures, cooking, gardening and volunteering at local historical societies. Second, Ms. Stauffer will be joining us as our new Librarian. Ms. Stauffer graduated from Loyola University and worked at the Children's Book Council in New York. She is excited to make the Schoolcraft Library into a warm environment where kids can fall in love with new books. We can't wait to have Mr. Newton and Ms. Stauffer as members of the Schoolcraft Team.

Masks with a Message
Second grader, Avery Kissick, enjoys focusing on spreading kindness and love!
Classroom Charter
Schoolcraft classrooms are writing classroom charters which outline their commitment to each other and themselves as learners.
Culture Projects
Fourth grade students are working on Culture Projects. Most students researched their ancestors and chose a country they were connected to.
Building Powerful Readers
Second graders enjoy daily reading groups with their teacher to work on new reading strategies.
Valentine’s day will be celebrated on Feb 12th, which is a HALF DAY.
This year's theme will be kindness and friendship and showing love/appreciation to those we care about.
Students may bring Valentines to pass out and individual wrapped candies or treats for students to consume at home. We suggest pencils, erasers or party favors in place of food items if you prefer.
If you choose to pass out Valentine's or treats you must bring one for EVERY child in the class.
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders will design paper bags or boxes to set out by lockers and will pass out Valentine's in socially distant groups.
3rd, 4th and 5th graders will have the option of entering classroom box competition for a chance to enter the schoolwide BOX COMPETITION!!
