Greetings Schoolcraft Families,
April is Autism Awareness Month. During this month, students will be learning about people with autism and celebrating their strengths and differences. This is an opportunity to open conversation about the differences everyone in our school has when learning and socializing. Some students prefer quiet, slow activities while others enjoy loud, quick-paced tasks. Some students speak up while others hold back. We have students who make friends naturally and others that wait to be invited. We have students who can problem solve proactively while others may cry or run away from an issue. By building on our collective strengths, we can create an inclusive community of leaders. When we notice the differences in each other we can respect and include everyone in a way that works for them.
Let's get our kids excited about KINDNESS and INCLUSION of everyone.
As we move into Spring, allergies become more prevalent. Congestion or runny noes partnered with a fever above 100.3, chills, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, diarrhea (2x in 24 hours), nausea or vomiting (2x in 24 hours) could be signs of COVID. We want to be mindful of the district COVID FLOWCHARTS and monitor for symptoms diligently. Please, DO NOT send sick children to school. Also, DO NOT take them to the playground after hours, stand at the bus stop, play with other children in the neighborhood or take them out in public. In order to stay in school, we need all parents to be EXTRA careful and keep sick kids home! Thank you for helping us stay in school!

In My Heart
Social Worker, Lindsay Simmons, practices breathing exercises with students for times that their heart feels mad, sad, scared or silly. Thanks for showing us 5 finger breathing and volcano breathing.
