The purpose of the Roy Jr High Track Team is to improve individual track and field techniques in hopes of representing the school competitively in district track competitions.
All students are eligible to participate on the track team. Athletes will try-out for various events, and those selected will train and compete in specific events.
In addition, all other students without specific events will train for and run in either the 800 and/or the 1-mile events. All those who attend a meet must participate in at least one event.
Track team candidates must complete the online information forms, preferably prior to the first practice of the season. This includes parental release forms, medical release form, disclosure, and other paperwork that is needed.
It is expected that all track team members attend daily practice. Please inform coaches of upcoming absences. Students must give their best daily effort in practice to be eligible to attend an upcoming meet. Missed workouts must be made up before full participation in the track meet.
It is expected that track team members keep their grades and citizenship up in all their classes as per the district requirements.
It is expected that track team members are always respectful to others on the team, their coaches, and to the managers. Also, please be respectful to bus drivers, other school personnel, and property/facilities at home and away.
It is expected that all track team members will use appropriate language. No swearing or degrading language will be tolerated.
Track Team members are expected to work to the best of his or her abilities at practices and meets.
When athletes do no not meet these expectations they will be asked to leave practice and may not be able to participate in the coming meet. As coaches, we do not want to feel like we are "babysitting".
During track practices, we will need to run off school campus. Students will leave school property and run as a group through the neighborhoods to the north to Roy High School.
