What is CTE?
Career and Technical Education is not a job training program, but rather a forward-looking approach to education that uses applied, contextual learning to help students realize the relevance of what they are being taught and its connection to postsecondary education, career opportunities and life goals.
Today’s economy is evolving at such a rapid pace that we need to be able to prepare our students to compete for jobs that don’t even exist yet. To do this effectively, we have to teach them how to become agile, lifelong learners able to interpret and apply knowledge, solve problems and collaborate and communicate well with others.
While some of these skills can be learned in traditional classroom settings, collectively they form the very foundation of all CTE two-year program curriculums. This blend of rigorous academics and applied learning provides students the opportunity to explore their interests, talents and ambitions in a dynamic and interactive setting.
