Information on Home Heating and
Energy Assistance for Income-Eligible Families
Homeowners and renters, including households with energy costs included in their rent, may be eligible for energy assistance and can apply in person at a participating agency in their area (please follow THIS LINK for community-specific agencies across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts) or by completing the standard online energy assistance application (the following link will take you to the application and information on eligibility guidelines). This program provides assistance through a fixed benefit amount for the cost of the primary source of heat, which includes, but is not limited to: Oil, Electricity, Natural Gas, Propane, Kerosene, Wood, and Coal.
If eligible, discounts may be given on:
electric bills for electric utilities
gas bills for gas utilities
telephone bills
Payments for actual usage or fuel delivery are made directly to the heating vendor for primary energy needs from November 1st to April 30th. This program is 100% free for those who qualify.
The William James INTERFACE Referral Service is a mental health and wellness referral Helpline available 9am to 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 8am to 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays (excluding holidays), at 888-244-6843 (toll free). This is a free, confidential referral service for residents of participating communities; Wachusett Regional is a participating community. Callers from participating communities are matched with licensed mental health providers from their extensive database, on average, within 2 weeks of their call to INTERFACE. Each referral best meets the location, insurance, and specialty needs of the caller.
