Welcome to Aim for Success. We invite you to explore our site and find an array of mental health tools and resources for you and your family.
Aim for Success was founded in the Spring of 2008 and came under the umbrella of the Mental Health Capacity Building Initiative.
The funds granted to the program were for a three year period of time with a catchment of three Drayton Valley schools: Eldorado Elementary, H.W. Pickup Junior High School and Evergreen Elementary School.
The new staff immediately began making connections and building relationships with school administration and staff, with program delivery soon following.
By the third year of the first grant cycle program staff grew to three full time and one part-time and mental health programs were being delivered across all grades throughout the three flagship schools.
June 2011 the Aim for Success grant was extended for another three year term this led to another program expansion in 2012. Staff expanded to three full time mentors as well as the project coordinator. Catchment also expanded to include Aurora Elementary School and Drayton Christian School.
Today the Aim for Success staff are still actively promoting mental health in Wild Rose School Division Schools, the Drayton Valley community, Brazeau County and surrounding area. In 2022-2023 we have all of our staff working fulltime.
Aim for Success and the Mental Health Capacity Building Initiative (MHCB) is truly the work of a community coming together. From funding, to in-kind support and everything in between, Aim for Success would not be the success it is today if not for the encouragement and support of each and everyone one of our partners.
The MHCB initiative is truly innovative because it brings together a number of people and professionals at the grassroots community level to help children learn how to self-protect their mental health from an early age. Teachers and other school personnel, parents, health care professionals and community organizations all work together, as one, to achieve this goal, and this critical help is provided within the school setting, where children spend most of their time
