A couple quick announcements:
1. The Boys 7th/8th cross country team is invited to the home football game this Friday to be recognized as OCC champs. This is the Varsity Football game vs. Louisville (Friday, Oct. 25th). This recognition will take place around 6:40 PM. We ask that all of your student-athletes and coaches meet by the concessions stand by 6:25 PM.
***If there are enough of us that are able to attend, I will sign us up.***
2. Boo @ Woo is this Thursday at WHS. You are all invited to join the cross country/track table. (Coach Scotti is in charge of this)
- GET YOUR COSTUME READY....on your own or with friends! (Not required)
(Some are doing a Disney Theme and invite you to join in the fun...sharing Disney decor too...we will make this part of our table)
- Bring some bags of candy and or little toys, stickers, pencils, etc to share with our elementary kids/community.
- Prepare to have a great time with teammates, coaches, our future generals and community!

Thursday 10/10 - Team dinner/awards
The kids will come in from practice at 3:45pm and we'll have our meal in the cafeteria. Afterwards, we will do a short awards presentation also in the cafeteria.
Saturday 10/12 Race Schedule:
a. 9:30 a.m. – Varsity Girls
b. 10:15 a.m. – Varsity Boys
c. 11:00 a.m. – Mixed Open (JV Race)
d. 11:45 a.m. – Middle School Girls
e. 12:15 p.m. – Middle School Boys
f. 1:00 p.m. – Awards Ceremony on the Hill
Since this is the conference meet, there will be an admission charge of $8 for adults and $5 for students/senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased at the meet with cash only.
Middle School athletes should arrive by 10:30am. This meet will be a lot smaller than the Wooster Invite.
We will meet at our tent to get bibs. These do need to be returned at the end of the race. If you forgot to turn in your bib from Orrville we can also turn those in because it's the same timing company.

Spectator parking: Spectator please park on Ella St., at lower/upper park or in the parking lot on north side of the school. Limited handicapped parking will be provided on south side of High School.
Dogs are prohibited in Orr Park. You may keep your dog on school property but please stay out of the
park.
T-Shirts: We will have shirts for purchase.

Cy Hewit does not have parking so spectators/buses should park at Jarrett Fleet Services (8860 Wooster Pike, Seville, OH 44273) and shuttle spectators in. Parking is $10 per car.

Parking will be $5 a car and we anticipate a VERY large crowd.

Awards: HS & MS - Top 25 finishers of each race will receive medals. 1st place teams in each race will receive a plaque. All awards and plaques must be picked up at the barn. Please check results before leaving. There will not be an awards assembly.
Parking: Spectator parking is available for $10/car at 1264 Center St. (Dale- Roy School) or 444 Phillips Ave. (Ashland University, parking lot) No vehicle parking will be permitted on Park Street at the west end of the field. Team equipment drop off is at street only, bus drop off. Please allow adequate time for getting parked before your athlete’s race begins.

Due to the heat we will be leaving the high school at 5:45pm.
Girls and Boys will be running together at 7:15pm.
Runners should go home after school and return for the bus at 5:45pm if possible. (If not Coach Forrest will be in her room)

- All races: 1st place Team Trophy and Runner-Up. 1st place runner plaque. Wooden Ribbons 2nd-15th. Individual awards given right after the finish, winner announced at the finish line after the next race.

Wednesday - Meet day!
Make sure to bring uniforms, shoes, socks and water bottles. 7th graders will ride the bus to the high school from EWMS and all athletes will meet in Coach Forrest's classroom (146). Athletes will then change into uniforms to travel to Northwestern Elementary School. Bus leaves at 3:30pm from Gault doors of WHS. We should have time to walk the course before the races begin.
Girls run at 6:00pm. Boys run at 6:30pm. Athletes may ride the bus home or parents may fill out a release to take their athletes home.
Thursday- Practice after school until 4:30.

Runners of the week! 8/16/24
This week we would like to recognize Avery Williams and Robbie Babulski. These athletes show up to practice every day with a positive attitude and are excited to run. We enjoy seeing their competitive spirit along with their ability to work well with and encourage their teammates. Great job!!

Our first Runners of the Week are Alie Sansom and Owen Zidron. We selected these athletes due to their strong work ethic and positive attitudes even when faced with challenging workouts! Keep up the great work!

Parent meeting notes:
Picture day tomorrow. Please wear your uniform to practice at 9am. We will have a light practice (bring a yoga mat or towel) and then our pictures are at 10am. If you are buying pictures please make sure to fill out forms and include payment.
Starting on Thursday (when teachers start back) we will change our practice time. Based on the high school's schedule, we'll need to meet from 3:15pm - 4:30pm. Please drop off in the circle instead of pulling into the teacher parking lot to avoid traffic.

We have 2 home meets this year and could use your help. The positions are for parking and course monitors. Sign up here.

If you want to take your athlete home from a meet. Please fill out a release form. You will need one for each away meet that you transport your athlete. You can find it at the top of the page and we will also hand them out at practice the day before a meet (or you can sign one at the meet).

During Friday's practice we will be passing out uniforms. If your athlete is going to be absent on this day please let us know what size they wear and we will pull aside a uniform for them.
After practice on Monday we would like to have a brief parent meeting. It should only last 10-15 minutes and we'll be handing out schedules and information about our season. If you are unable to attend we will put information on the website and on remind.
Picture day is on Tuesday 8/13/24 during our practice. We will meet at our normal time/place and pictures will be at 10am. Please have your athlete wear their uniform to practice and bring order forms if you are purchasing pictures. Forms were passed out at Thursday's practice. We have extras if needed or they are on our website.
Starting on 8/15 practice times will change to 3pm-4:30pm for the remainder of the season.

Tomorrow will be our last day of summer running meeting at Freedlander Park from 8:30am-9:30am.
Official practices will start on Thursday, August 1st. We will meet at WHS teacher parking lot (east side of WHS) from 9am-10:30am. We will meet Monday-Friday at this time/place.
Athletes must be signed up on final forms and have current physicals in order to participate.
Please be sure to bring water and a towel since we'll be doing some exercises and stretching in the grass.
We will still have practice if it's raining or storming. Make sure to check Remind in case we are meeting at the Gault (West entrance of WHS).
If you know of any 7th/8th graders interested be sure to invite them as well!
Starting August 15th we will begin practicing from 3pm-4:30pm and will remain at that time for the season.
Once school begins, 7th graders will ride a transfer bus to practice at the high school. Buses for all meets will leave from and return to the high school - Gault doors.
Summer running:
Starting in July we will be meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am-9:30am at Freedlander Park.
(Since July 4th is on Thursday, we will move that practice to Wednesday, July 3rd)
We will be running and also doing some strength training.
Please be sure to bring water and a towel since we'll be doing some exercises and stretching in the grass.
If you know of any 7th/8th graders interested be sure to invite them as well!
