We are so proud of how everyone did this weekend. It was so awesome to see you out there chasing your goals! Thank you for making this season incredibly memorable:)
End of season awards and photos:)
Thursday - The kids were interested in doing yoga again. Our first session was free, but this one will be $3 per runner. If possible, please bring it on Thursday along with a mat or towel.
Friday - We will practice until 5pm so that we can do a small awards ceremony and presentation in the LGIR. There will be plenty of room for the kids to spread out and it will be cleaned before and after we use it. If you do not feel comfortable with your athlete attending, please let us know. We are sorry that we cannot invite parents this year. We will share our slideshow after we present it to the team.

“Dear Woo Cross Country Families: I am communicating a plea, to reinforce the message that we must be mindful to take precautions to keep our student athletes safe. I'm asking for your help to encourage your child to limit their intersection of human contact in their life, or at least mitigate risk when in contact with other people. We get one opportunity to have a season that means so much to the kids. Let’s do the best that we can to protect them. Thanks Coaches Bennett & Pope, Forrest and Harley!”

At this time we are looking at a season that includes dual meets and are working to put together procedures that will allow us to attend these competitions while maintaining the safety of all athletes. We'll keep you informed as we learn more:)

SUMMER TRAINING GUIDELINES
Rule #1 - Enjoy the Summer
We would love for you to be ready to run 2 miles on day #1 of mandatory practice but understand if that is not possible. Enjoy the time off from school. Have fun with your friends and family. If, after observing Rule #1 you have time for summer training, it can really help you in the fall competitive season.
Rule #2 - Run at an Easy, Steady Pace
You should run at a steady pace. If running with a partner, you should be able to talk comfortably with them. The goal of summer training is to build your endurance - we will add speed work in the fall.
Rule #3 - Run in a Decent Pair of Running Shoes
If your running shoes are at least a year old, you should invest in a decent, quality, new pair. Running stores (ex. Vertical Runner) have experienced staff that can help your find a good fit and quality pair of true running shoes. NO basketball shoes or fashion athletic, these can result in injuries.
SUMMER TRAINING SCHEDULE

Week 7-10
Run 5 days per week, logging 15-20 miles per week. Rest and/or cross train on off days.
Note: SAFETY RULES WHEN TRAINING
1. Use sidewalks when possible. If you need to run on the road, always run toward
traffic (except on blind curves). This means run on the left side of the road.
2. Inform your parents or another responsible party of the direction your run will take and roughly when to expect to be back.
3. If anyone causes you a problem, no matter how slight, promptly report it to your
parents. Get all information you can at the time...location, license numbers,
descriptions, etc.
4. Hydrate well before and after. 12 ounces of water prior to a 30-minute run and 12-20 ounces immediately after (water/sports drink) are a good idea.
5. Delay or cancel your run if you are ill. Try to avoid extreme exertion on the first
day of a cold. Light runs with a cold after the first day are usually OK.
