Uniform turn in: Please place clean uniforms (singlets, shorts, and warmup hoodies) in a plastic bag with your name. Turn the bag in to either Coach Forrest (8th grade) or the main office at EWMS (7th grade) by Friday October 20th.
Congrats to the Runners of the Week (Oct. 2-6) - Raquel and Alessandro
Raquel - We've seen you grow as a competitive runner over the course of the season. We appreciate your focus during practice the past few weeks. We sincerely love the poem you wrote on behalf of the team that will be shared at our celebration on Friday. We also loved seeing you pass all those runners at the race on Saturday.
Alessandro - We've seen you choose to improve your skills as a runner these past few weeks. You clearly have goals and are working to attain them on race day. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the team.
Monday (October 9th) - Pool day! Bring suits and towels
Thursday (October 12th) - We invite our runners to join us in a course preview of Mansfield Sr's Cross Country course, where we will be running our OCC meet. We will leave the high school at 4:30 (back of school). We should by back to Wooster by 7pm. This will be instead of our normal practice. * Please RSVP via the handout that will distributed at practice 10/5 or through email.
Friday - October 13th: Team dinner and awards (WHS commons).
We will meet as usual at 3:00 at WHS. The team will run a short route and then meet up for a team dinner at 4pm. After the dinner we will have a small awards ceremony that parents are welcome to attend. Please help us make this a great event.

Congrats on a great meet at the Orrville, Ashland, Wooster Tri-Meet! The boys finished 1st and the girls finished 2nd overall. Ashton took 1st place for the sixth time this season. It was amazing to watch the boys and girls run together! Well done team! *Thank you to the Rising and Dreher families for supplying snacks and drinks. Also, thank you to the Snider family for providing snacks at the CVNP meet!

Beverly: We love your quiet leadership on the team. Your calm presence is necessary to balance our team's energy. We enjoyed seeing your display of steadfast support during the girls open race at the CVNP meet. We appreciate the way you set goals and work to achieve them. We've enjoyed our long-route chats too!
Gabe: We've seen you continuously improve over the season. We appreciate that you always give 100% at every practice and every meet. We loved to see you confirm our choice of putting you in the team race at CVNP by giving your all on the course. We've enjoyed our pre-race course walk-n-talks too!
Up Next: Orrville, Ashland, Wooster Tri-Meet - October 4. The bus leaves WHS @ 3:00. FYI: the Wayne/Holmes Meet on Saturday, October 7 is at the same location (Orrville High School). Our runners will have the opportunity to run on the course a second time!
Congrats to our runners at CVNP! We are proud of our runners as they navigated steep hills and root covered trails at the meet on Saturday. It was a beautiful day to race in the woods. We saw some amazing competition today. Well done Wooster!

Isabella: We saw you go after your goals this week. We appreciate the way you encourage your fellow teammates. We love how you took a positive risk in the Northwestern meet to get out front early. You were able to reflect on your performance and how to improve it in future races.
Johnny: We appreciate your sense of humor and running talent. We are impressed with your ability to set and achieve goals. We loved seeing you cross the finish line #2 overall at the Northwestern meet.
Ice Cream Run - Sept. 20: Please plan to pick up your runner at Oh Yo! at 4:30. We are running to get ice cream on the coaches' dime! :-)

Thanks for running with us at Memorial Park on Saturday, September 16. Special thanks to all who helped keep track of Coach Broda's dog, Alle, on the trail.
Running at Wooster Memorial Park, Saturday (September 16)
Since we do not have a meet on Saturday, September 16 we invite you to run with us at Memorial Park (5197 Silver Rd works for GPS). We will meet in the parking lot on Silver Rd at 9:00 am. Both 3 mile and 5 mile routes available. There will be some runners from Vertical Runner joining us to lead the way through the park. Parents are welcome to come as well! This is a great practice for what we will encounter at the CVNP meet! *Please RSVP via the handout distributed at practice on Sept. 12 or through email.
The Glow Run was FUN! Thank you parents for serving as street crossing monitors and providing directions for our runners.
Practice Schedule for Monday and Tuesday:
Fair Day (September 11th) - No school! Glow run at Vertical Runner (optional). Bring your own glow sticks and your family to join us. The run begins at 7:30 at Vertical Runner.
Teacher Inservice Day (September 12th) - No school! Practice 4:00-5:00 pm at WHS (time change due to inservice schedule).

The Wooster Invite was a great success! The boys and girls teams both won 3rd place out of 10 teams. We are so proud of our runners setting goals and working to attain them during the race. Ashton finished 1st place for the fifth time this season. We love watching our team reach their full potential. Thank you McGrew and Dewald families for bringing drinks and snacks for the team.
Congratulations Runners of the Week (Sept. 4-8): Marion and Landon!
Marion: We admire your leadership among your fellow female team members. You always work your hardest during practice, especially on days involving speed work, and always have smile on your face at the end. You truly enjoy running and it shows. You strive to improve and have always been a reliable top finisher for our girls!
Landon: You have steadily improved since the beginning of the season, consistently setting and achieving new goals. We love watching you learn how to be a more efficient and tactical runner. You have a great sense of humor. We also appreciate that you always share your post-race M&M's with the team.

Our CC team won big at the Smithie Invite! Congrats to the boys for their 1st place finish and the girls for their 3rd place finish. Our team knows how to work together on the course! Congrats on an amazing meet at Ashland! Our runners were so strong today! We saw awesome teamwork and determination on the course. The boys finished 3rd place out of 20 teams, and the girls finished 10th out of 19 teams. Ashton won his third 1st place finish out of 243 runners. Spectacular!

Practice on Monday - Wednesday is from 9:00-10:30.
Practice on Thursday and Friday is from 3:00-4:30.
Team Photo Day is scheduled for Friday, August 18 @ 4:30 @ EWMS. Runners must wear their uniform to practice. We will begin practice at WHS at 3:00 and run to EWMS for the photo. Please plan to pick up your runner at EWMS on Friday around 4:45, since our photo time slot is 4:30.
Heart and Sole Race - update! If you wish to support your teammates as they run the Heart and Sole 5K, we suggest cheering with your family at the start/finish or Cornerstone Elementary. The cheer station at The Polen's house is not on the 5K route, so we are canceling the cheer station. Thanks for understanding. The 5K race begins at 7:30 am on Saturday, August 19. *Attendance is not mandatory.
