Begin by identifying whether a problem needing to be addressed is a minor problem behavior or a major problem behavior. Examples of each of the most common behavior types are listed below.

Some problems (i.e. Tardiness, Technology violations, etc.) may occur in both columns. An occasional tardy might be construed as a minor behavior problem, whereas chronic tardiness could fall under the major problem behavior category.

Defiance/Insubordination/Non-Compliance
