Restorative options for students offer opportunities for the student to restore relationships between themselves and any stakeholders they have affected due to the behavior or incident.
Reflective options for students offer opportunities for the students to reflect about the decisions they made that led to discipline in the first place. Examples include reflection sheets, role-playing, and interviews.
Instructional options for students offer opportunities for students that target the function of the behavior and help them learn the skills needed to not engage in such behaviors again. Examples include behavior lessons, social skills, teaching opportunities and behavior exams.
Apology Letter Template - Student will apologize to the custodian and other stakeholders in person or through an apology letter.
Restitution: Student will be assigned restitution for 15 days or administrative decided length of time based on the damage. The custodian or anotehr stakeholder will supervise the student and sign off on restitutionw ork and attitude of the student during restitution. The student will write a thank-you letter after the completion of restitution to show their appreciation and understanding of this life lesson.
Restorative Contract: Develop a contract with montioring by administration for at least six to eight weeks.
Administrative Interview: Interview the student to figure out the reason the student caused the damage.
Property Damage Practice Scenarios: Student will complete property damage practice scenarios and go over their thoughts with administration and other relevant stakeholders.
Research: Student will research the cost of damage and work with stakeholders to develop a work plan for correcting the damage. The action plan will be presented to administration and stakeholders.
Behavior Academy: Student will complete six to eight sessions of behavior academy or teaching opprotunity, providing student scenarios to help the student see the effects of their behavior on others and to learn self-control skills.
Local Examples: Administrator will print examples of local stores that have been vandalized for the student to research and learn the impact vandalism has on others. Student will write an essay demonstrating empathy with evidence from the local examples.
Adult Consequences: Student will research adult consequences for property damage and write a one-page reflection on how this type of behavior can impact a person's life in a negative way.
