Restorative options for students offer opportunities for the student to restore relationships between themselves and any stakeholders they have affected due to the behavior or incident.
Reflective options for students offer opportunities for the students to reflect about the decisions they made that led to discipline in the first place. Examples include reflection sheets, role-playing, and interviews.
Instructional options for students offer opportunities for students that target the function of the behavior and help them learn the skills needed to not engage in such behaviors again. Examples include behavior lessons, social skills, teaching opportunities and behavior exams.
Apology Letter Template - Write an apology letter to all stakeholders (i.e. parents, teachers, etc.) apologizing for the use of substances.
Community Service Form - Assign student to up to 20 hours of community service with a loss of privileges until the completion of all community service hours.
Restorative Contract - Utilize restorative contract.
Meet with Community Police Officer or School Resource Officer: Gather information on the consequences of engaging in this type of behavior in the community. Write a two page paper sharing what you learned from the officer.
School Medical Officer: Meet with a school medical officer (i.e. nurse) about the effects of drugs/alcohol on a child and write a one-page paper on what you learned from the interview.
Research Paper: Present research to a class with the student's parents/guardians present.
Law and Case Study: Research 3 laws related to alcohol/tobacco/drug offenses and complete the case study in the attached document.
Drug-Free Schoolwide Campaign: Student helps plan and organize with a designated administrator or school staff on a drug-free campaign for the student body.
Dangers of Drugs/Alcohol Research: Students research the dangers of underage drinking or drug use or tobacco/vaping and the damage to the development of children/adolescents. Stduent will create a slide presentation and present it to the administrator and/or assigned classrooms/students.
Drugs/Alcohol/Tobacco in the Workplace: Student researches a drug and alcohol policy in a selected workplace environment. Summarize the policy in a one-page paper and be prepared to present key findings.
