Restorative options for students offer opportunities for the student to restore relationships between themselves and any stakeholders they have affected due to the behavior or incident.
Reflective options for students offer opportunities for the students to reflect about the decisions they made that led to discipline in the first place. Examples include reflection sheets, role-playing, and interviews.
Instructional options for students offer opportunities for students that target the function of the behavior and help them learn the skills needed to not engage in such behaviors again. Examples include behavior lessons, social skills, teaching opportunities and behavior exams.
Apology Letter Template - Student will write apology letters to students and/or others offended by language.
Language Contract: Student will be placed on a language contract.
Interview: Student will interview others around campus on how inappropriate language makes them feel.
Future Reflection: Student will complete an essay on how inappropriate language can affect their future in a workplace or within a community.
Other Choices: Student will identify 10 positive appropriate words for each negative/inappropriate word used.
Respect Reflection Sheet: Student will complete a respect reflection sheet centered around language usage.
Rephrasing: Student will be provided practice opportunities on how to rephrase inappropriate language to appropriate language.
Teaching: Student will teach younger grades appropriate language rules in school.
History Of...: Student will research the meaning of the language used (when appropriate) and create a presentation sharing the history of the words.
Behavioral: Student will complete six sessions of behavior lessons on self control.
