Before I make any recommendations, I would like to identify the three main types of guitars that are available: acoustic, classical, and solid body electric.

Acoustic guitars generally have the largest body of the three. The strings, composed of steel, produce a bright color. The size of the body and the steel strings make the acoustic guitar a sound producer. However these aspects of the acoustic guitar do have undesirable characteristics. The large body can make the acoustic guitar uncomfortable to hold, especially for people with a smaller frame. In addition, the steel string can make fingerstyle technique uncomfortable and sometimes painful. Acoustic guitars are best played with a guitar pick.
