West Island School has a longstanding relationship with the MRV Project and it proves to be an extremely popular Horizons Week trip year on year. Based 4 hours drive north of Chiang Mai, in the golden triangle, the students will participate in ongoing service projects that benefit the community. The nature of the service will vary depending on the needs of the local community at that time but students should expect to do some manual labour such as making bricks and mixing cement and working with local children. Students who participate in this trip will need to be mature and sensitive as the direct service involves interacting with the locals. The itinerary also includes various team building and physical activities such as kayaking, hiking and raft building.
Students who attend this trip will need to be committed to raising money for the service project before they go.
